Meeting Point

Trafalgar Squ

- We visit iconic Trafalgar Square, regarded as the heart of London. We stop to admire its wonderful fountains and architecture and hear the story of Admiral Nelson on top of the column. You will have plenty of time to take photographs and enjoy the view!

The Mall

We pass through famous Admiralty Arch onto The Mall leading to Buckingham Palace. We will walk down the Mall - the most famous road in London! The Mall is red, like a ceremonial red carpet and we will proceed down this processional route known for its magnificent ceremonies; from the King and Queen in their gold carriage driving down the Mall on the way to the State Opening of Parliament, to the Annual Birthday Parade and Royal Weddings.

Changing of the Guard

We get to see the spectacular ceremony of the Changing of the Guard at St James’s Palace and/or Buckingham Palace. You will hear all about the history of the Guards and how important they are to the Royal Family.

St James’s Palace

We stop to see this magnificent Royal Tudor Palace, built by Henry VIII. We will hear all about its fascinating history and have time to take photos.

11:00 AM

Buckingham Palace

We have the perfect view of Buckingham Palace where we stop. This is the historic home of the British Royal Family. Here I will talk about the history of the palace and the Royals and you'll have plenty of time to take some fabulous photographs.

St James’s Park

We take a relaxing stroll through this beautiful

Royal Park, St James's Park. It is one of our favourite in London and has a picturesque lake and beautiful planting at all times of year. Lovely coffee shop for a stop.

Horseguards Parade

We stop here to see the Changing of the King’s Lifeguards. I will ensure you are positioned in the best place to observe this magnificent ceremony and we will hear about the historical significance of the ceremony. You'll have plenty of time to take photos of the mounted guards.

Whitehall and Downing Street

Walk down historic Whitehall past Downing Street, home to the British Prime Minister.

Big Ben and Houses of Parliament

No visit to London is complete without a visit to Parliament Square, home to the House of Parliament, with its icon clock tower, Big Ben. The Houses of Parliament are one of the world's most famous buildings and we stop here to admire the beauty of the architecture and hear from your expert guide about the fascinating history of this home to our democracy. Your knowledgeable guide will offer an insight into the political, social and cultural roles Parliament has played in the development of British society over nearly a thousand years.

Westminster Abbey

We stop off outside Westminster Abbey to hear your expert guide tell you about the Kings, queens, statesmen and soldiers; poets, priests, heroes and villains all buried in Westminster Abbey. It is a must-see living pageant of British history.

Westminster Tube Station

Travel by tube to our lunch spot, a 10 minute trip to London Bridge. Alternatively guests can choose to travel via taxi if preferred (cost not included).

Borough Market for lunch

Borough Market is Europe's oldest market and voted one of the world's top foodie destinations. Here we stop and you can buy your lunch. We have time to browse amongst the stalls filled with gourmet food, including delicious cheeses and beautiful patisseries. There is a fabulous selection of street food on offer and your guide will show you around and also were we sit and get to mingle with visitors from all over the world. We spend c 45 minutes here so plenty of time to relax over lunch.

London Bridge

There has been a bridge over the Thames at this site for nearly 2000 years. The first one was built by the Romans and we will hear tales of the bridge down the years and the sights we can see from here including St Paul’s Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, The Tower of London, HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge.

Tower of London

Visit the unmissable Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a favourite among visitors to London. His Majesty’s Royal Palace & Fortress, better known as The Tower of London, is almost 1000 years old and has a rich, vibrant history. It has glorious medieval buildings and stunning, priceless Crown Jewels featuring the 530 carat Great Star of Africa. You can have a fascinating tour of the Tower with a Yeoman Warder, lovingly known as Beefeaters. Tickets to the Tower are extra.

Fabulous views of iconic Buckingham Palace,

Plenty of time to take photos and a guide who is more than happy to take ones for you.

Coffee and toilet breaks built in.

Please note that Changing of the Guard does not happen every day and sometimes is cancelled by the Army at very short notice.

What‘s not included

Travel costs: Tube fare (travel like a Londoner)

$3.80 per person or taxi from Westminster to Borough Market - assume taxi at +$30

Food: Lunch at the options around Borough Market - guide can make suggestions. Prices vary but assume at least +$15 per person at the market, +$26 if eating in pub or cafe.

Entrance fees: Entrance to the Tower of London is not included in the tour, but will guide you to the ticket stall or time arrival if you have pre-booked tickets. Adult (age 18-64): $48

Child (age 5-15): $24

Tour Important Information

This tour involves a lot of walking, so please make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Tours are such fun (even in the rain!) and are run whatever the weather.

Note that Changing of Guards is not on every day and can be cancelled by the Army at short notice. Please book the 10 am slot for Changing of the Guard.

Borough Market is closed on a Monday, although plenty of other eating options around there which your guide knows well and will recommend.
