The Summer Palace, an imperial garden built in the Qing Dynasty (1750), was originally named Qingyiyuan (“Garden of Clear Ripples”) and later reconstructed by Empress Dowager Cixi. Destroyed during the Second Opium War, it now showcases stunning landscapes: serene Kunming lake,lush Longevity Hill, and the iconic Long Corridor adorned with 14,000+ historic paintings. Highlights include the grand Tower of Buddhist Incense and marble boats on the lake.
