Hangzhou’s Wizard of Oz: Secret Mountain Hike
Forget the crowded West Lake promenades, this is the Hangzhou that locals keep for themselves. This trail is a magical half-day hike that leads you through three breathtakingly beautiful green spaces, each with its own unique personality.

Meeting Point
Wushan Square Station
Jiyi Pavilion
We begin our hike by climbing the winding stone steps of Mount Wu. As the city sounds fade away, we enter a canopy of dense, centuries-old trees. Our first key milestone is the Jiyi Pavilion. This tucked-away, traditional wooden pavilion offers a serene resting spot surrounded by lush ferns and bamboo.
Baishefeidu Bridge
We hike deeper into the ridge to discover one of Mount Wu’s most cinematic and hidden features: the striking jagged rock formations and mossy cliffs. A stunning S-curve 'sky bridge' here is inspired by the legendary love story of Lady White Snake, a Chinese folktale set right here in Hangzhou.
Liulangwenying Park / Orioles Singing in the Willows
One of the original “Ten Scenes of West Lake,” and the perfect way to end your forest adventure. Named for the thousands of weeping willows that line its gentle pathways and the orioles that fill them with song, this lakefront park is pure poetry. A Song Dynasty-style stone bridge whose shaded archway becomes a dreamlike green portal in the morning light, making it one of Hangzhou‘s most cinematic hidden photo spots.
Ending Point
Cuiguang Pavilion (the best place to capture the sunset over the Leifeng Pagoda)
