It is one of the few original buildings from the time of the Third Reich here on Obersalzberg, the second seat of government of the Nazi regime besides Berlin. Learn more about the darkest chapter in German history and how it came about that a former farming area developed into Hitler's preferred residence.

** visit of the Kehlsteinhaus and the summit area (30 to 45 min.)

Tour options

In the vicinity of Berchtesgaden there are other great sights that are worth visiting. If you want to shorten your stay at the Eagle's Nest or visit something else instead of Lake Königssee choose from the following alternatives with the option to extend the duration of the tour.

Option A - Salt Mine Berchtesgaden

Especially for children an exciting experience is a visit to the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine. On a guided tour, you drive into the interior of the mountain on original mine railways, slide down on wooden slides and cross an underground lake on a wooden raft.

Travel time from Eagle's Nest parking: 15 minutes

Duration of this option: ca. 2 hours

Travel time back to Munich: ca. 2 hours

Option B - Herrenchiemsee Palace

Herrenchiemsee Palace is one of the royal castles of the Bavarian King Ludwig II, idyllically located on an island in the picturesque Lake Chiemsee. Here King Ludwig carried out his most expensive building program as an architectural reference to Versailles to honor the French Sun King Louis the XIV. Neo-baroque splendor and a boat tour with fantastic landscape impressions await you on this tour option.

Travel time from Eagle's Nest parking: ca. 1:15 hours

Duration of this option: ca. 3 hours

Travel time back to Munich: ca. 1:15 hours

Option C - Salzburg

Due to its historic old town and cultural significance, Salzburg was declared a World Heritage Site 25 years ago. Explore the historic old town with me on a tour and get to know the history and the most important sights:

** "The Sound of Music" locations such as Cemetery St. Peter or Horse Pond

** Mozart's birthplace

** Salzburg Cathedral, first baroque church North of the Alps

** Getreidegasse with its picturesque wrought iron signs

** Salzburg Residenz and Fortress Hohensalzburg (from outside)
