From the parking of the Olympic Ski Jump Stadium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen it is a walk of about 25 minutes to the Partnachklamm, one of the most impressing natural monuments in Bavaria. The approx. 2,300 feet long gorge is framed by 260 feet high rock walls, at its base the Partnach flows along, which is fed by the melt water of the Zugspitze glacier. In winter the gorge is accessible as well, then huge ice walls with a height of up to 100 feet tower up on the steep rock walls and create bizarre ice formations.
If time allows it, we can add a short and easy hike to your visit to the Partnachklamm. You can enjoy Bavarian cuisine in picturesque surroundings and be comfortably brought back to the entrance of the Partnachklamm by the oldest small cabin lift in the world.
Linderhof Palace is one of the 3 castles built by the famous Bavarian king Ludwig II. Even if Neuschwanstein is his most famous building, Linderhof Palace was his preferred retreat and the only completed castle. A neo-baroque jewel awaits you here, embedded in the breathtaking landscape of the Bavarian Prealps.
3 things make Oberammergau world famous: the passion plays, the fresco painted facades and the wood carving. But despite this fame, Oberammergau has retained much of its original charm and is still a picture-book Bavarian village.
