Meeting Point
Prato della Valle
- Prato della Valle: one of the biggest squares in Europe! Today it's a bustling place, full of markets, young people enjoying sport or just passing spare time and different cultural events. All around, several statues, telling us about Padua history. In the nearby, the impressive presence of one of the ancient churches in Padua: Santa Giustina and just in a few minutes on foot we reach another symbol of the town: Saint Anthony Basilica, visited every year by million of pilgrims.
Saint Anthony Basilica
The Basilica was realized immediately after Anthony's death, and then it became an important cult site for millions of pilgrims every year!
Inside it is possible to admire chapels completely frescoed during the XIV century by some followers of the great Giotto, the tomb of the Saint and the relics chapel, reach of particular and historical signs of devotion.
Padua University: Bo Palace
In the real centre of the town, we reach the historical location for one the ancient universities in Europe, the second in Italy, after Bologna University.
"Universa universis Patavina libertas", this is its latin motto which tells us something about the spirit of the town, alive since centuries: Padua's freedom is universal and for anybody.
We are going to discover together why it is called Bo, who are the most famous characters who studied or tought in this prestigious campus and why it is so important for the town.
Piazza Erbe - Palazzo della Ragione - Piazza Frutta
Finally we are in the square area: between the two squares Palazzo della Ragione, the building in Padua representing the justice control and the economical and political power.
Together we are going to discover the different functions of the building, nowadays still used, thanks to its several shops present in the ground floor.
Inside in the "piano nobile" the biggest zodiac painted cycle in the world , completely frescoed in XV century !
The two squares still nowadays are always full of street vendors and markets.
Pedrocchi cafeteria. Coffee Stop!
Close to the square and to the university, the so named "Coffee shop without doors". Why was it so called?
The Pedrocchi is not only a coffee shop, but especially a cultural place where people could meet each other, discuss about new political ideas or just having something to drink, first of all coffee, which was a trendy bevarage, starting from end of XVIII century in Venice. Another great symbol of the town, still nowdays alive and prestigious. This is the best chance for a break: let's a have together a cup of coffe, the Pedrocchi one is the top!
Scrovegni Chapel or Battistero, close to the main Cathedral
We close our tour visiting inside one among the several frescoed monuments in Padua: the Scrovegni Chapel realized by the great Giotto, highly recommended or if you prefer the Battistero, small religious building close to the main Cathedral.
Inside impossible to be indifferent to a similar beauty. Everybody is captured in a sort of spiritual path, full of extraordinary coulours and shapes. Painting becomes real emotion and perfection: a new season is approaching, leaving behind the old Bezantine tradition.

Full Day in Vicenza: from the town to villas
Full Day in Vicenza, city walking and by car tour: let's discover the city centre, visiting the topic monuments. After lunch, we move with my private Toyota Yaris in Monte Berico, the hill dominating the city. We reach the terrace of Piazza della Vittoria where we can admire the city from the top and a wonderful landscape. After a quick visit of the Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady, we move towards one of the close villas: "Villa Capra Valmarana, named the Rotonda" or Villa Valmarana ai Nani.
