Meeting Point
Railway station in Vicenza
- From the railway station we fast approach Porta Castello, a medieval entrance built in XIV century. From here we start to speak about Vicenza's history through its palaces and some interesting maps.
Corso Palladio
In front of us, the most important avenue in the town: once ancient roman road, nowadays pedestrian street, full of aristocracy palaces and shops.
Cathedral Square
The Cathedral in Vicenza: the most important church of the town and originally one of the most ancient religious buildings.
This area was heavily damaged during the II World War, so during the reconstructrion in the Fifties, it was possible to discover several roman ruins that tell us a lot about the Roman Vicenza.
If possible, a quick visit inside the church would be proposed.
Piazza dei Signori and its surroundings
Finally we reach the real centre of the city, the main square, so elegant and rich of beauty: the Palladian Basilica welcomes the tourist with its white, precious stone and its majesty.
This place represented always economical and political power, but the presence of Venice is explicit: the Lion in the column and some typical gothic buildings along the road cannot betray the most careful visitor.
Santa Corona Church
Along the road towards the end of Corso Palladio, here we are in front of the Santa Corona Church: ancient religious church with a very particular history.
Today it can be consider a real museum, due to the incredible masterpieces you will find inside: from wonderful paintings of Bellini and Veronese, to very precious altars.
Olympic Theatre
Considered the only ancient covered theatre in the world, the Olympic Theatre is the last work realized by Andrea Palladio.
Still nowadays used as theatre for classical performances, you cannot leave Vicenza without visiting the theatre inside!
Piazza Matteotti and Palazzo Chiericati
The end of the tour and of Corso Palladio is in Piazza Matteotti, dominated by the big palladian Chiericati Palace, one of the most rich families of the Vicenza aristocracy and among the first Palladio customers.
Today it guests an important civic art gallery, full of masterpieces from XII til XIX century: a real casket of beauty.
A quick break for lunch and then straight to the railway station to reach Padua by train!
Scrovegni Chapel
This is a must for people visiting Padua: wonderful frescos realized at the beginning of XIV century by Giotto, the great painter who brought a new art and a new spiritual vision.
This century is approaching fastly towards Humanism, when man reaches the life centre.

Padua University - Bo Palace
The site of the second most ancient university in Italy: since 1222 Padua has its own campus and several students were coming from all part of Italy and from some european countries.
A prestigious campus full of history and of tradition, but always ready to follow the contemporary times.
Pedrocchi caffeteria
"The coffee shop without doors". So it is called by Padua locals. But why? Let's discover together the history of this important symbol of the town.
Not only a coffee shop, but especially a meeting place for students, artists and anybody was looking for a warm bar where to stay.
Piazza Erbe - Palazzo della Ragione - Piazza Frutta
We reach the main square area, topic place for justice, politcs and economy of the city, starting from XIV century.
Palazzo della Ragione dominates the two squares, full of markets all the day long and today it is still alive thanks to its shops in the ground floor.
The piano nobile, once the traditional place used as a court, it is completely frescoed with an incredible zodiac cycle never realized!
