Walking tour along the main streets of Vicenza, where the famous architect Andrea Palladio left some of his masterpieces.
An historical outlook, starting from Piazza Castello, important medieval entrance to the town: here we begin our tour, telling how Vicenza changed along the different historical periods and why today it is considered the city of Palladio.
Across Corso Palladio and other topic streets, we reach the elegant Piazza dei Signori to close our tour in the amazing Olympic Theatre.

Meeting Point
Porta Castello
- Porta Castello: welcome in Vicenza! Main entrance to the town, realized in the Middle Ages. Not far from the railway station, it is the best meeting point for who is going to visit Vicenza for his first time. General outlook of the town, observing historical maps: from Roman period till Palladian era; the medieval walls, the hydrography and the main roads.
Piazza Garibaldi and Corso Palladio
Let's start speaking about Andrea Palladio and why Vicenza is considered "his town". From mansion to mansion, we are going to know the architect who gave a new look to the city.
Piazza Duomo
The Cathedral of Vicenza. the religious power and the most important archeological area in the town.
Contrà Pigafetta and Piazza Erbe
Celebrities in Vicenza such as the navigator Antonio Pigafetta and their family palace: the Venetian Vicenza. Let's go to meet the venetian gothic style in the town.
And finally we approach to the square area: Piazza Erbe, dedicated once to the vegetables market.
Piazza Biade and Piazza dei Signori
The small square dedicated once to the seads market and Piazza dei Signori: the political and trade centre, one of the most elegant "salon" of Italy, with the great Basilica Palladiana, one of the symbol of our town.
Stop at the historical bakery "Sorarù"
Just in front of Palladio statue and his Basilica Palladiana, let's have together a cup of coffee or capuccino with some pastries at Sorarù bakery, the most ancient cake shop in the city.
Contrà Porti
Just imagine water instead of phorphiry in the street and we can say to be in Venice! This is considered the Venetian street in the palladian Vicenza: let's admire together the rich and amazing palaces realized in XV century, in gothic style.
Olympic Theatre (Closed on Mondays)
The right conclusion for people who come for the fitrst time in Vicenza: the only permanent, ancient and covered theatre in the world, still existing! Palladio and his final masterpiece left to his Vicenza.
Piazza Matteotti
The tour reaches his end: together we admire the big Palazzo Chiericati, in front of the Theatre, another incredible palladian palace and nowadays Civic Art Gallery and one of the biggest palladian mansions in Vicenza.

Full Day in Vicenza: from the town to villas
Full Day in Vicenza, city walking and by car tour: let's discover the city centre, visiting the topic monuments. After lunch, we move with my private Toyota Yaris in Monte Berico, the hill dominating the city. We reach the terrace of Piazza della Vittoria where we can admire the city from the top and a wonderful landscape. After a quick visit of the Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady, we move towards one of the close villas: "Villa Capra Valmarana, named the Rotonda" or Villa Valmarana ai Nani.
