10:30 AM

Ganghwa Pungmul market

Ganghwa Pungmul Market is a traditional Korean market offering a wide variety of regional specialties. You can explore stalls selling fresh produce, seafood, homemade side dishes, medicinal herbs, and traditional Korean snacks. The market is especially famous for Ganghwa’s signature products such as turnips, ginseng, and handmade rice cakes.

11:30 AM

Peace Observatory

The Ganghwa Peace Observatory offers one of the closest views of North Korea. From the observatory, you can clearly see North Korean villages, farmlands, and everyday life across the border. The facility provides telescopes, photo displays, and exhibits that explain the history of the Korean Peninsula and the division between North and South Korea.

01:00 PM

Joyangbangjik Cafe

This is one of the largest and most iconic cafe complexes in Korea, created by transforming an old textile factory in Ganghwa Island. The space preserves the original industrial structures - such as brick buildings, old machinery, and vintage factory equipment - while blending them with modern art installations and quirky decoration.

02:50 PM

Gwangseongbo Fortress

This Fortress is a historic coastal defense fortress built during the Joseon Dynasty. It played a major role in protecting Korea from foreign invasions, especially during the French Campaign of 1866 and the American military expedition of 1871.

You can see restored fortress walls, command posts, cannons, and memorial monuments that help you understand Korea’s military history. With beautiful views of the coastline and well-preserved structures, Gwangseongbo Fortress is both an important cultural heritage site and a peaceful place to walk and learn about the island’s strategic past.

04:00 PM

Jeondungsa Temple

This is is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Korea, founded in 381 AD during the Goguryeo Kingdom, giving it more than 1,600 years of history. The temple has long been a center of Korean Buddhism and has been rebuilt and expanded throughout the Goryeo and Joseon periods.

Reviews

Excursion to Seoul from our cruise port.

Minho Kang met us right inside the cruise terminal building with a sign which was very convenient. He was such an awesome guide. He told us so much about everything we saw and you could tell how much he loved his country and he wanted to please us. He explained in detail the history about everything we saw and you could tell how much he enjoyed showing us very important parts of Seoul. We saw such beautiful things and he was very patient when we wanted to take pictures and take our time to admire everything we were seeing. He took us to a pharmacy so my sister could buy medicine and helped her find the right product for her needs. I bought a postcard that I wanted to mail to my grandson and he stamped it and put it in the mail for me because the post office was already closed. I thought that was so generous of him. I think our tour lasted longer than what we booked it for and we all had a great time with him.

Outstanding Tour of Seoul

My wife and I enjoyed an outstanding tour of Seoul with Minho. He worked with me to customize the day’s tour to include sites that we were most interested in visiting. Communication was great in planning and while on the tour. Fluent in English. Easy going and flexible but focused enough to keep us on time. Patient in answering our many questions. I highly recommend Minho as your guide for South Korea.
