One hour from the city of Coimbra, located on the Fosteira coast, Figueira da Foz, known as the queen of Portugal's beaches and home to the largest urban beach in Europe, is a city inevitably associated with the sea, with good fish and maritime activities. It is also a city with some very curious stories (including those associated with World War II), several monuments, a very famous casino, and magnificent views and landscapes.

This former palace houses a large collection of Dutch tiles, said to be the largest in the world.

Municipal Market

In the historic market, we find some of the region's typical products. Fish, of course, but not only. Let's visit a small shop where we can learn more about this region.

Fort

Built in the 16th century, it played an important defensive role in the city, but also, in a way, for the country in the 19th century. In addition to the curious historical facts, marvel at the magnificent views of the sea.

For tours outside Coimbra, if you need help, I can help you get to your destination. Usually, the meeting point will be at the location specified in the tour, but I can guide you in Conimbriga, Figueira da Foz, if you can kindly pay my transportation fee.

History is where you least expect it.
