Meeting Point
Fonte dos Leoes
- The Lions Fountain is a popular meeting point in Porto, located in the lively Praça de Gomes Teixeira, right in front of the Carmo and Carmelitas churches. The bronze fountain, decorated with majestic winged lions, was built in the late 19th century and has become one of the city’s most photographed landmarks. Surrounded by cafés, student life, and historic buildings, it is easy to spot and a perfect place to start exploring Porto’s downtown.
Carmelitas and Carmo church
Standing side by side in the city center, these two churches look like one but are actually separate buildings. The Carmelitas Church (17th century) is more discreet, while the Carmo Church (18th century) impresses with its richly decorated Baroque façade and the famous blue-and-white azulejo tiled wall. Between them lies the narrowest house in Porto, built to separate the convent from the monastery.
Lello Bookstore
One of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, Lello is famous for its neo-Gothic façade, stunning wooden staircase, and stained-glass ceiling. A true inspiration for book lovers and a must-see in Porto.
Clerigos Tower
An iconic 18th-century baroque bell tower rising 76 meters high, offering breathtaking panoramic views over Porto. A landmark symbol of the city and a must-visit for visitors.
Prison
Once Porto’s main prison, this 18th-century building now houses the Portuguese Centre of Photography. Its striking granite architecture and history make it a fascinating stop in the city.
Old Jewish Quarter
A maze of narrow medieval streets where Porto’s Jewish community once thrived. Walking here reveals traces of history, culture, and daily life from centuries past.
Miradouro da Vitoria
A hidden spot in Porto’s historic center offering stunning views over the Douro River, the cathedral, and the rooftops of the city. Simple, authentic, and less crowded than other viewpoints.
Flowers Street
One of Porto’s most charming pedestrian streets, lined with historic buildings, local shops, cafés, and street performers. A lively place to enjoy the city’s atmosphere.
Sweet Break
We’ll pause for about 10 minutes to relax and enjoy one of Portugal’s most iconic treats – the famous Pastel de Nata. A perfect moment to recharge before continuing the tour.
