Meeting Point
Arch (gate) of La Macarena
- We will meet in fron ot the Arch of La Macarena. one of the few remaining gates of the old medieval walls of Seville, one of the longest in Europe.
Basilica of La Macarena
Next to the gate is the Basilica de la Macarena, one of the main temples in the Holy Week where we will discover this important relogious festivity in Seville and in Andalusia.
Church of Santa Marina
One of the oldest parrish churches in Seville, established in 1249, after the Castilian conquest, is a good example of the Mudejar style, which unites Muslim and Christian traditions.
Novitiate and church of San Luis de los Franceses
We will visit this spectacular building that is one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Seville. Built on the site of an ancient medieval palace between the 17th and 18th centuries, it houses incredible spaces and works of art.

Church of San Marcos and Convent of Santa Isabel
At the church of San Marcos we will admiree its façade and tower that combine Gothic and Mudejar art. Later we will see the convent of Santa Isablel and its beautiful Renaissance façade.
Monastery of Santa Paula
We will visit the monastery of Santa Paula, one of the most important monasteries in Seville and still in use. We will also visit the museum and the church, as well as being able to buy the famous jams (marmalades) made by the nuns of this monastery.
Church of Santa Catalina
In this small church different styles and influences are condensed: Mudejar, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque, being a summary of a great part of the history of Seville.

Hello! My name is Rafael, an architect, and I have a PhD in architecture focused in architectural theory and contemporary vernacular architecture. I have a Master’s degree in Architecture and historic heritage, and a Master's degree in Education. I have been working for 18 years carrying out very diverse projects in architectural design and urban planning. In 2017. I changed my activity towards cultural management, heritage dissemination, curating and designing exhibitions and cultural events.
Beside this I am very involved in the cultural life of the city. I have been the director of several cultural festivals, and have been collaborating in organizing several exhibitions, conferences and other cultural events in Seville the last years. I love drawing, architecture, art, history and gastronomy.
