Tokyo Ginza Then and Now (Izakaya hopping tour in 3 hours)cover image

Tokyo Ginza Then and Now (Izakaya hopping tour in 3 hours)

Tokyo
3 hours

You want to experience Izakaya like locals? Are you a little reluctant to drink in Shinjuku Kabukicho or the youth town of Shibuya? If so, I recommend Ginza, Yurakucho area! The area has some different profiles. There are deep izakaya alleys underneath the JR railways that retain a postwar atmosphere and also high-end streets where the district became first westernized after the Edo period. You can enjoy 2 very different types of drinking spots while touching about the history.

Tokyo Shitamachi Tour - Fukagawa -cover image

Tokyo Shitamachi Tour - Fukagawa -

Shitamachi literally means "downtown", but it is a Japanese term often used to describe old traditional towns located in Eastern Tokyo. The famous Shitamachi areas include Asakusa, Yanaka, Fukagawa, and more. In this tour, I feature Fukagawa. We visit Fukagawa Fudoson temple, Tomioka Hachimangu Shrine (not in Kamakura), Fukagawa Edo Museum, and Kiyosumi Garden. You can also enjoy town strolling in the Shitamachi atmosphere.

Let's explore genuine made-in Japan products in Nihonbashi!

Tokyo

During the Edo period, Nihonbashi was the starting point of the Five Roads that connected Tokyo with other areas, a place where a fish market was held, and a town of merchants. Many long-established stores still exist. Let's explore authentic Japanese souvenirs in Nihonbashi. Also, enjoy eating around Ningyocho, which is a performing arts town along with Asakusa and has many long-established gourmet restaurants.

ASAKUSA More Deeply!

Tokyo
4 hours

Want to know more about Asakusa? In Asakusa, the regular tour includes Kaminari Mon, Nakamise shopping street, the five-story pagoda, and the main hall. It takes about 1 hour. In this tour, we spend half a day in Asakusa for those who want to know Asakusa more deeply. I take the double time (2 hours) and show the places that tourists don't usually visit. The next 2 hours are up to you. I will arrange it as you like.

Amazing first day in Tokyo

My experience was exactly to my liking, enjoyed mixture of site seeing and foodie tour in two exquisite places.Perfect day!

Thank you! I'm so happy to hear that. Let's have fun one more day together!

First evening in Tokyo

Maki met us at our hotel (after we had been in Tokyo for only 4hours on our first day of our trip )to guide us to local food and drinks near our hotel. It was a total success as Maki guided us through very busy areas to a great restaurant for tempura/sushi , beers and wine. She was great company (very fluent English) and showed us a lot in a short time which set up our next days in Tokyo. We even went back to the restaurant on our own later in our stay.

Thank you for taking time to write a review. I was so glad that my introduction could help you a little. I hope your ongoing travel will be memorable and pleasant! Maki

Hi! Dear my future guest! I hope you are well. Hard conditions have been still going on but I'm so excited to welcome you. During the pandemic, I've got certificates as a medical interpreter and had chance to work at a hospital in Tokyo. It was a great opportunity such as to attend patients with covid and others illnesses. I came to reconsider safety and security is very important for travellers to relax and enjoy. I live in Chiba prefecture, commuting area to Tokyo. I was born in a family of Buddhism priest in Fukushima, So, I like to show you traditional temples and shrines just as a part of everyday life. I also like nature, arts, fashion, foodie....maybe everything! The attraction of Tokyo is mixture of something new and something old. Please feel many attractive scenes with me! I started my carrer as a tour conductor and visited many countries and had a chance to live in the Philippines for 5 years and US for 1 year. I remember people were so kind and generous to me. That's the reason why I am a tour guide now to do something helpful for guests from all over the world. So please don't hesitate to tell me your interest, I'm willing to be with you almost everywhere around Tokyo and Japan!
