Hello! I’m Hitomi. I was born and raised in Kagoshima. After graduating from the college, I mostly lived in Tokyo and came back to my hometown 10 years ago. I love communicating with people and sharing each other’s culture and history. As I used to work for an airline company, I could travel to many foreign countries with lots of joy experiencing their unique cultures. Now, I want to help visitors from abroad enjoy Japanese unique culture, history, nature.

Highlights of Kagoshima, Sakurajima and Sengan-en Garden

Real Natural Hot Sandbath in Ibusuki, Chiran Peace Museum & Samurai residenses and gardens
Natural steam sandbaths are something you would want to try at least once in your life. Your body is covered with sand heated by hot springs that naturally well up from the earth. Tosenkyo rotating flowing noodles which swirl around in front of your eyes is a unique dining experience. Chiran Peace Museum preserves and displays materials left by the deceased Army pilots of the unprecedented ramming attack known as Kamikaze during the final moments of WWⅡ.
A Deep Full Day of Active Volcano Sakurajima
Feel the wonder of nature by experiencing the real active volcano Sakurajima! An oblong massive trapezoid volcano rises above Kagoshima Bay. It erupts on average 200 times a year. Whisky Distilleries, Kanosuke, Mars Tsunuki and Satsuma Ware Pottary Kiln, Chin Ju Kan
Kanosuke Distillery is a fouth generation shouchu distillery that built Kanosuke in order to further explore the potential of distilled spirits. As a long time distiller of shochu and a pionner in the field of aged shochu, it has developed a deep understanding of the delicate craft of distilling and is now trying its hand at single malt whisky. It aims to make mellow yet flavorful whisky from its distillery located along a 50 kilometer long white sand beach.
Oshima Silk Wearing Experience, Chiran Samurai Village and Peace Museum
Enjoy a stroll through the subtropical garden wearing Oshima Silk, one of the three great textiles in the world along with Gobelins and Persian carpets. Chiran is home to more than 500 samurai residences during the late Edo period. The breath of history is still felt after more than 270 years. Chiran Peace Museum preserves and displays materials left by the deceased Army pilots of the unprecedented Tokko operation in Okinawa during the final moments of WWⅡ, known as Kamikaze internationally.
Shochu brewery, Sakurajima, Rose Garden Kanoya
The shochu production season runs from late August to November, the same time as when fresh sweet potatoes are harvested. By witnessing the delicate manufacturing process and huge tanks that go into making shochu, you will deepen your respect to the brewers and your love for shochu. Rose Garden Kanoya is Japan's largest rose garden, with 35,000 roses planted on a vast 8ha site. Rose Festivals are held in spring, late April to June and fall, late October to early December.

“An Amazing and Beautiful Experience”
What a beautiful day we shared. Hitomi designed a meticulous emotionally balanced experience to inspire the beauty of the coast, sea and majestic volcanoes (Kamika, grieve at the senseless loss of so many young men (Chiran Peace Museum), learn the perspectives of war through the through the Japanese lens of Kamikaze pilots, peaceful stroll through the homes and gardens of Samurai families, find joy in a journey through the park of flowers, the nourishment of the food and hand-made soba noodles and tempura at lunch, the warmth of the sandbaths heated by hot springs and soothing sound of waves touching the shores It was so very special.

I was born and raised on the Osumi Peninsula in the eastern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. In elementary school, I walked 4 km one way to school. I used to fuss with the neighborhood children about the kappa (a well-known Japanese specter, water imps) in the creek. In summer, I drank from the freshwater flowing into the eel pond on my way home and picked wild strawberries to eat. I aim to be a guide who can provide such "unique" and exciting experiences that I cultivated as a child. I am a local, and I can give you a guide who understands the area. I have a husband, a son, a daughter, and two cats. My home is in a rich natural environment, and in early summer, you can hear the call of the ruddy kingfisher!
