About Tour Guide Stephen Y.

Hello! I'm Stephen. Originally from London, I’ve had the privilege of calling Tokyo my home for the past 20 odd years. Japan is a beautiful country, and my first visit here left me deeply touched by the kindness of numerous strangers. Whether this is your first visit or you're returning to explore more, I hope our encounter will be memorable and will add to your experience of this wonderful country.

Tokyo is a jazz lover’s paradise and is truly blessed with a large number of good joints, from intimate underground spots to historic venues. As a jazz fan, I love exploring the city's unique jazz kissas (cafes) and live jazz clubs, discovering hidden gems beyond the big name establishments.

As a father of two young children, I understand the joys and challenges of family outings. Our weekends are filled with visits to parks, museums, and events around Greater Tokyo. Parents will know that these days out are more than just fun — they're opportunities for learning and making lasting memories. I'd be delighted to show you and your family some of the best kid-friendly places and fun events around the city.

Having lived in Tokyo for so long, I've become well-acquainted with its diverse neighborhoods and the expat communities spread across the city. Whether you're interested in exploring the Tokyo jazz scene, a family-friendly day out, or a leisurely stroll through Tokyo's popular expat areas ahead of a potential move, I can offer personalized tours tailored to your interests. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or requests!

A Wonderful tour

Stephen picked wonderful clubs for us to get a flavor of the jazz scene in Tokyo. HIghly recommend this tour.

Jazz night tour

Had an amazing time! Got to experience some really cool little jazz clubs and had the best ramen with Stephen. Very knowledgeable guide with flawless English. This is a must-try tour for those looking for something eclectic and off the beaten path.

Hello everyone! I was born and raised in Kawagoe, a charming historic city located just next to Tokyo in Saitama Prefecture. Two years ago, I graduated from university here in Japan, and I now work as both a tour guide and a study abroad support advisor. Three years ago, I had the life-changing opportunity to study abroad in Vancouver, Canada. The warmth and hospitality of the locals left a deep impression on me. I discovered the joy of immersing myself in a new culture and way of life, and I truly came to appreciate the beauty of connecting with people from diverse backgrounds. Now, I want to be the one offering that kind of experience to others. As your guide, my goal is to make your journey in Japan truly special. Through GoWithGuide, I strive to go beyond typical sightseeing—I want to create meaningful opportunities for you to engage with Japan’s rich culture and traditions on a deeper level. I’m committed to providing a safe, thoughtful, and unforgettable experience for every guest. Let’s not just visit Japan—let’s feel Japan. Join me on this unique journey, and together, let’s discover the heart and soul of this incredible country. I look forward to meeting you soon! Depending on your tour and needs, my teammates Kei and Ethan may also join to help ensure the best experience.

Hello! My name is Ken (Kenichi), and I’m a professional tour guide with experience guiding over 1,500 foreign tourists as of February 2025. I have worked for both Japanese and international companies in Tokyo for over 30 years, giving me deep insight into the city and its unique charm. I also love traveling and have explored many famous destinations in Japan as well as in 40+ countries worldwide. I fully understand the challenges that many first-time travelers face when visiting Japan, especially in a busy city like Tokyo. My goal is to provide you with a fully customized, time-efficient tour that meets your needs and preferences. Since most travelers have limited time and want to visit as many places as possible, I carefully plan tours that highlight the best spots and the most efficient routes, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience. For added comfort and luxury, I offer the option of using a car with an experienced driver (my wife), making your tour even more convenient and stress-free. I look forward to guiding you and helping make your visit to Japan truly memorable.

*Bookings for cherry blossom season are full; if the date on the calendar is greyed out I am not available* Hello! My name is Grant, and I’ve spent over a decade living and exploring Japan. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. This passion led me to pass the N2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test in 2018, study at language schools across Japan, and graduate from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy. I’ve traveled to every prefecture in Japan, often using unlimited rail passes to explore castles, historic sites, and regional specialties. I hold a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and my extensive experience living in Tokyo has made me an expert on the city’s transportation system, hidden gems, and affordable eats. With over 30 visits to Kyoto, I have deep knowledge of its historical sites and the broader cultural landscape of Japan. I studied at Japanese language school in Kyoto. I visited all the world heritage sites in Kyoto and have a lot of knowledge on the history of Japan. I can provide tours of Kyoto or places outside of Tokyo for an additional transportation fee. Tour options: Half-Day Tour: 20,000 yen (4 hours) Full-Day Tour: 40,000 yen (8 hours) Full-Day Tour Outside of Tokyo: 40,000 yen plus transportation expense
