I live in SHITAMACHI, Tokyo, or an old residential town near ASAKUSA and UENO. My hobby is strolling. I walk around this area almost every day. Asakusa was unusually crowded on the day you visited, likely because it was the day after the festival. The temperature was also high for May. I was a little worried that you might not have fully enjoyed yourself and felt too exhausted. After reading your review, I am so relieved and happy to know you had a wonderful time. Here in the East Side of Tokyo - the traditional "shitamachi" area - there are still many hidden gems where you can enjoy yourself without the stress of big crowds. We had a wonderful stress free time touring the Tokyo with Tak over 4 days. He created a fantastic itinerary that worked for us and our 20 year old daughter and boyfriend. Getting a new challenge is always appreciated for a guide like me. I search online, visit places, and imagine how I can explain things well. Through this process, I find new, wonderful places to show to future guests as well. These four days with your family gave me so many great experiences. Showing Ueno and Yanaka from a cultural lens, finding a shop for an authentic Shinobue flute, bar-hopping with small surprises, and on the last day, taking you to Nakano Broadway to fully satisfy your daughter and her boyfriend's GEEK hearts. I had some trial and error, and sometimes I was secretly sweating with nervousness! lol But in the end, seeing your happy faces made all my preparation worth it. “Great tour!”

Tak took us to the KK Garden and Ueno Park. He recommended skipping Asakusa to focus on the other two as we were a little short on time. That was a good call! We had a wonderful tour with him of two beautiful locations and then he saw us all the way to our afternoon group tour to make sure we got there in time. That was, again, a good call as we likely would have gotten lost! A true professional!

Thank you for a wonderful day. Koishikawa Korakuen is famous for its beautiful garden, but its various parts reflect hundreds of years of history and culture dating back to the Edo period. Therefore, it is a place that makes it very difficult for guides. I always struggle and try many different ways to explain it, but if its charm was conveyed to you, I would be truly happy.
