Petropolis will surprise you. 70km away from Rio, Petropolis has a totally different atmosphere and architecture from Rio.
Petropolis was founded by D. Peter the II to build the summer imperial palace for the Portuguese royal family. The city has a unique architectural ensemble, such as the Quitandinha Palace, the St. Peter's Cathedral of Alcantara, the Crystal Palace, the Santos Dumont House Museum, the Petrópolis Imperial Museum, and many colonial houses in the historical center.

Quitandinha Palace
We will visit the outside garden of the Quitandinha palace, which used to be the biggest palace of South America in the past.
Imperial Museum
We are gonna visit the interior of the museum that used to be the summer house of the imperial family.
St. Peter of Alcantara Cathedral
It is the exotic church with Neolithic architecture.
Lunch time
Stop for lunch in a delicious Portuguese restaurant.
Crystal Palace
It was built to be Princess Isabel's botanical garden, today hosts exhibitions and events.
Santos Dumont house
The house where Santos Dumont lived years before he died.

Tour Important Information
We are gonna travel 70km outside Rio, so make sure you are ok with the description of my car if your group will be 5 or 6 people in total:
- My car is a 7-seater SUV and can accommodate 6 passengers (plus me as the driver guide). For tours, I recommend a total of 4 adults and 2 more persons up to 1.70 meters tall in the 2 back seats.
For more than 4 adults over 1.70 meters, I rent a van (at an extra cost), so that the tour is extremely comfortable for everyone.

Hi and welcome! My name is Alan, I am 43 years old, and I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. Having been to 35 countries on all the continents of the world, and having lived in Australia, Holland, Israel and Argentina, I have had the opportunity to be in touch with different cultures and languages - and this grew my desire to show my city, Rio de Janeiro, to tourists.
I am a licensed guide by EMBRATUR, the Brazilian Institute of Tourism, and have been a private tour guide since 2013, having carried out hundreds of private tours, and have become more and more in love with my city and with my job as a Tour Guide.
