Because Chile is such a culturally, climatically and geographically diverse nation, 12-14 days is ideal. You’ll find yourself falling in love from the icy mountaintops of Patagonia, to the modern skyscrapers of Santiago, up to the dry desert towns of the Atacama. Q: What is the best way to tour Chile?

Given Chile’s overwhelming size and varying terrain, touring looks different depending on where you are. In Santiago, walking and riding the metro and the bus is the best way. If you’re in the Atacama or more remote regions, a private car or long distance bus will get you where you need to be. Trekking and hiking is popular in the Patagonia region, but supervision is required at certain points. If you’re trying to plan a roadmap for touring Chile, talk to a local Chilean guide about your transport options.

Q: What is the best time of year to visit Chile?

This depends on where you’re going and which activities you’d like to take part in. For Puerto Varas and the greater Patagonia area, November to March is best while Santiago is best enjoyed from September to March .

“Wonderful three days with Laura”

We had the pleasure of experiencing a three day tour with Laura. From the very beginning, she made us feel welcome. Laura has a wonderful way of bringing her island, its history, culture and traditions to life. Her knowledge is impressive and she shared it with a lot of warmth, passion and love for her home. As a couple in our early 60s, we appreciated that there was never any feeling of being rushed. Laura perfectly accommodated our pace and allowed us to take our time, enjoy the spectacular sites and really absorb what we were seeing. We never felt like we were simply being taken from one place to another — we felt that we were truly discovering Rapa Nui with someone who knows and loves it. Rapa Nui is an extraordinary place, and having Laura as our guide made our experience even more special. We spent amazing day with Laura starting at Tongariki with sunrise and then moving to key Moai places. I am so thankful to you, Laura! It was a day to remember for the whole life. I am so happy that I found you here. Laura is very good at English, knowing the story of Moai very well, also providing a mix of storytelling as well as time in silence to feel the moment. “Great guide for an interesting hike!”

Highly recommend Maria, great communication prior to the hike. Collected from hotel and spoke excellent English. Maria provided a delicious lunch and was excellent company throughout the hike! The hike itself was really interesting to see the ancient forests and the destruction from previous eruptions. The hike takes you through the forests and the terrain is quite muddy and full of tree roots and obstacles which makes for a good challenge!
