A very beautiful and picturesque settlement, Nafplio is located in the southwest side of the Peloponnese and is famous for being the first capital of Modern Greece. Nowadays, it's a popular tourist destination, famous for its narrow alleys and its Venetian castle, called Palamidi that dominates its skyline. As a friendly and easy going person, who is specialized in modern Greek history, this tour is ideal for me in order to transmit you my knowledge of the region!

King Otto's statue - Square of the Three Admirals - Nafplio
We begin our tour by visiting the Three Admirals' square and the nearby buildings. Afterwards, we head towards Syndagma square, making some stops on the way. Syntagma square is the most popular part of the city and contains buildings such as the first parliament of modern Greece and the Museum. We visit the Museum and then we walk towards the port, where we will take some photos of the fortified islet of Bourtzi. Right after, we take a car and drive towards Palamidi Castle, making a stop in the Lion of Bavaria sculptural group.
We make a short stop here in order to see this beautiful sculptural group that was financed by king Ludwig of Bavaria, in order to honor the Bavarian soldiers who died in a pandemic in Nafplio in the early 19th century.
We enter the castle and we visit the Bastions, the Chapel of St. Andrew and the jail cell of Theodoros Kolokotronis, Greek revolutionary hero. After some time to take photos we return to the car and drive towards our starting point.
We return to the square of the Three Admirals where the tour ends.
