Kerala, the gods' favorite land, is a genuine haven for India's living traditions. We'll start your journey in Cochin, a colonial city rich in history, tales, and charm. Then we'll head inland to Periyar National Park in the hope of seeing some of the species that live in the region's deep woods. Then it's on to Munnar, where there are tea estates as far as the eye can see. After that, we'll join the backwaters for a relaxing finale to your visit.

Day 01: Arrive at Cochin International airport

Assistance upon your arrival at Cochin airport and transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival check into the hotel. The rest of the schedule will be altered based on the flight's arrival time. Cochin, a historic port that spanned multiple islands, was a key player in the spice trade. We take a walk through the colonial quarter and down the seaside, passing by the famed "Chinese carrelets" (huge fishing nets) at the port's entrance, where fishermen sell their catch directly to the public in little shops. At the conclusion of the afternoon, we see a performance of Kathakali, a Keralan form of theatre and dance. We get to see how the masks are made, which is just as fascinating as the show itself.

Day 02: Cochin

The second part of our excursion to Fort Cochin. We visit the Dutch Palace, which is known for its magnificent Guruvayoor style paintings representing India's great mythology, including the Ramayana. We also proceed to the synagogue in Mattanccheri's Jewish neighborhood, which was built in 1568. (closed on Jewish holidays). We take a trip around the city's streets, stopping at antique shops, churches, and marketplaces. Free time to take in the city's peacefulness and charm.

Day 03: Cochin - Thekkady (Periyar National Park)

This morning we depart for Thekkady, the entry point to Periyar National Park. We go for a walk at a tiny family spice plantation (black pepper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon...) as we arrive. We have lunch together as a family. In the evening, we watch a Kalaripayattu performance, a thousand-year-old martial technique unique to Kerala.

Day 04: Thekkady (Periyar National Park) - Munnar

We arrive at Periyar National Park's entrance early in the morning. The Maharaja of Travancore declared the park a wildlife sanctuary in 1935, and it is home to a diverse range of animals, some of which are difficult to observe due to the park's size: elephants, gaurs, antelopes, and monkeys. We take a three-hour trek in the reserve. We could see some wild creatures if we're lucky. Return to the hotel before our trip to Munnar, which takes us through a scenic mountain route through the ghats in the "blue mountains" region. Before reaching the slopes of the Himalayas, the route passes through rural areas and enormous coconut trees.

On our way to Munnar, we pass through a natural park, woodland regions, and ultimately tea and cardamom farms. Munnar, a pleasant altitude resort, is highly popular during the scorching summer months on the plains. We will appreciate the soft and green panoramas of the tea and spice plantations that emerge from the deep woods of the environs as far as the eye can perceive from the heights. We go on a walk and stop at a spice bazaar.

Day 05: Munnar (tea plantation trek)

Our hiking day begins with a fast transit to the hike's beginning site. Our hiking day begins with a fast trip to Kolukkumalai, our trek's starting location. We trek through the region's tea plantations and woodlands till we reach Kolukkumalai's highest point. We have a fantastic view of the surroundings and Mount Messapulimalai, the second highest peak in southern India, from here. At the summit, have a picnic meal. Afternoon visit to the tea factory for an explanation of the many processes of tea leaf cultivation and harvesting. We continue our descent and locate the car that will transport us back to the hotel.

Day 06: Munnar - backwaters region

Departure via road to Kerala's coastlines, passing through lush green landscapes and plantations with a breathtaking view of the coasts below. Because the sea is rather harsh on the Indian shores, the Indian Ocean mingles with the waters of the Arabian Sea midway down the coast of Kerala, resulting in stunning tones of azure blue, capped with white foam. The installation took place in a modest home on the banks of the backwaters. Take a stroll around the fishing communities, where life has stayed mostly unchanged. During a cooking session with the locals, we get the opportunity to learn about the local cuisine. We make a variety of regional meals with a delicate spice blend.

Day 07: Backwaters region

Drive to the snake temple early in the morning and then to Krishnapuram's temple-palace with its magnificent paintings. Transfer to the dock and board a "ketuwallom," a traditional boat used to convey commodities, spices, or rice, some of which have been converted for recreational use. Take a stroll through the backwaters, which are a maze of canals dotted with coconut trees, rice fields, towns, and traditional homes. Discovery of communities and historic churches, traveling slowly across fields of water hyacinths plowed by massively loaded boats. A day on the water to unwind.

Day 08: Backwaters region - Varkala

Disembarkation and travel south along the Malabar coast to Varkala after breakfast. Varkala, near Papanasham Beach, is a community surrounded by rice fields (whose name means "redemption from sins"). The Janardhana Swamy temple attracts many Hindu pilgrims from all around the world throughout the year (non-Hindus cannot enter the central sanctuary, but have access to the outer courtyards). Installation and free time to explore the surroundings at the hotel.

Day 09: Varkala - Kovalam beach

In the morning we board the train to Trivandrum. Then, go to Kovalam Beach and settle into a hotel for two nights.

Day 10: Kovalam Beach

Free day to enjoy in the Kovalam beach.

Day 11: Kovalam - Trivandrum - return flight

This morning you will transfer from hotel to Trivandrum airport to board the flight back home.
