Meeting Point
Plaza Virgen de los Reyes
- The Plaza Virgen de los Reyes is right at the foot of the Cathedral tower, The Giralda. We will meet at the fountain that is right in the middle.
A charming little-unknown palace
This stop will be the first surprise of our tour. One of the women who are part of my doctoral thesis was a member of a very important family and we will see one of their small palaces.
Plaza del Salvador
We will take the first break to have a drink or eat something in this important square, that of the Church of the Divine Savior, which in Islamic times was the main mosque of the city from the 9th to the 12th century.
Palace of the Countess of Lebrija
This palace is very special. It was owned by the Countess of Lebrija, a collector of Roman art, and was opened to the public in 1999. The countess dedicated her life to recovering mosaics and different Roman pieces, and today we can see her entire incredible collection in this palace.
Plaza de la Encarnación
We will make the next stop to rest and have a drink in the Plaza de la Encarnación, a place with a lot of history from Roman times to today and very popular due to the wooden structure that serves as a parasol to protect us from the Sevillian sun.
Palacio de Dueñas
The following palace is still in use as the family residence of the Duke of Alba. It is a very popular place in Seville since Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, the Duchess of Alba, a very important celebrity in the city of Seville, lived here. The palace was built around the 15th century and is another of the jewels of this city.
Casa Pilatos
The last palace would be the perfect summary for a day like today, so aristocratic and historical. It is the home of the Dukes of Medinaceli and was built in the 15th century combining all the Renaissance trends of southern Spain, as is the case with the previous palaces.
