About Tour Guide Ritsuko K.
Hi, I'm Ritsuko, a national licensed tour guide. I was born and raised in Tokyo.
As Tokyo is a city of many faces, I hope you will discover your hidden gems during the tour.
I love to wander around the shops and places downtown and one of my hobbies is to find daily-use products made in Japan. So I can select unique souvenirs for you within your budget!
I am football-mad and have been to every FIFA World Cup except one tournament since 1998.
I also love to go island hopping in Asia. That's why I have been to over 30 countries.
Wherever I went, people were so kind to me. So, it's my turn.
I will do my best to make your tour a memorable one!
Hope to hear from you soon.

“Amazing tour”
Ritsuko was a great tour guide! We learned a lot and she guided us to the main sights very easily and explained their meaning. She was also great with our 8 and 10 year old sons! Thank you

Hi Eileen, Thank you very much for your kind review. I’m very happy to hear that my tour helped make the rest of your family’s stay in Tokyo easier. Lucas and Julian were also extremely well behaved throughout the day, even during transportation and waiting times, which I really appreciated. I hope all of you continue to have a wonderful time!

“Two Day Tour of Tokyo”
We had a two day tour of Tokyo with Ritsuko and it was outstanding and I highly recommend her as a tour guide. Ritsuko was friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful to us in developing a tour plan that showed us many parts of Tokyo. We had some ideas of what we wanted to see and Ritsuko added to that with things that we hadn’t considered. After the first day she had a sense of what interested us and really help tailor the plan to things we liked. She communicates well and is fun to be with. Highly recommend.

Hi Bob and Cathy, I really appreciate you writing such a generous review! The first day was unfortunately very rainy, but it became a memorable route in its own way, with the goma fire ritual, the small museum, and even a visit to Kappabashi. On the second day, I enjoyed introducing you to local areas from Yanesen to Guitar Street and the old bookstore district. I’m so pleased that those two days met your interests. Now that you are back home, I hope the yukata that suited you so well and the blue pottery that matched the beach will bring back nice memories of your time in Japan. Take care and stay healthy!

“Half Day Tour of Tokyo using public transportation:traditional vs modern”
Ritsuko was an excellent tour guide. She was personable , informative & well organized. She helped us navigate the express train to the airport. She provided us with a custom tour based on what we experienced during our cruise itinerary. She responded to our questions in a timely manner. We enjoyed the entire day!!

Hi Jane and Jay, Thank you for your lovely review. I truly enjoyed spending the final day of your long cruise journey together as well. And in the end, I was relieved that we successfully made it all the way down to the N’EX platform on the fifth basement level for your airport train! I hope the memories from your time in Japan will stay with you for many years to come. All the best!

Being a former student and staff member of the University of Tokyo, I have a natural ability to communicate with people from all corners of the world. Regardless of whether you prefer to speak English, French, or Globish with me ! I have practiced Aikido, Iaido (Katana), and Kyudo (Bow) martial arts, and I have also worked on the restoration of Japanese armor. Therefore, I am well-versed in the art of war in ancient Japan. But my passion for history goes further, and during my guided tours, I will share various anecdotes that will bring ancient Japan to life for you ! I'm also a huge fan of old Japanese video games, especially RPGs, so if you want a true otaku experience, follow me to Nakano Broadway and Akihabara! If you're interested in arranging a tour that's tailored to your preferences, feel free to send me a message !

Hello! I’m Koichiro. Please call me “Yamasan”. It derives from my family name and my friends call me so. I worked for a machinery company as a project manager and engineer for mechanical and electrical construction projects both domestic and overseas for over 35 years. I recall my first overseas project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when I was 26, and the second was in Singapore. I visited many countries for surveys, meetings, commissioning, project handing over, and so on. In 2014 at the age of 60, I decided to retire from the company and live the expected further 30 years of life with a new career and experiences. I, then, studied translation and guide interpretation. I passed the national examination for licensed guides (English) in 2015 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2016. Until now, I have been guiding many beautiful guests mainly to popular sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Omote-Sando, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree, and also cultural experiences of Origami making, Furoshiki wrapping, and Sushi cooking. I am happy that I can freely arrange a customized tour together with you, or can propose my tours to you. I want to show you some parts of daily Tokyo life and introduce you to Bunkyo City which is located in the heart of Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live a happy life now. Now, we can tour around the world but have not yet overcome COVID-19 completely. Recently, the number of passengers wearing masks on public transportation in Tokyo reduced to some 25% but we should mind about it still. Please carry your mask to wear it where or when necessary (December 2024, Yamasan).

I have been working for the business with American companies for many years and have many experiences guiding customers from all over the world, from Japan to the USA and Europe. I lived in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for five years and loved to drive around Europe, the USA, and Japan. I now have a national license as a guiding interpreter and want to introduce Japanese traditional culture to people worldwide who are interested in it. I can be your guide in Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kamakura for your enjoyable time in Japan.
