About Tour Guide Ritsuko K.

Hi, I'm Ritsuko, a national licensed tour guide. I was born and raised in Tokyo.

As Tokyo is a city of many faces, I hope you will discover your hidden gems during the tour.

I love to wander around the shops and places downtown and one of my hobbies is to find daily-use products made in Japan. So I can select unique souvenirs for you within your budget!

I am football-mad and have been to every FIFA World Cup except one tournament since 1998.

I also love to go island hopping in Asia. That's why I have been to over 30 countries.

Wherever I went, people were so kind to me. So, it's my turn.

I will do my best to make your tour a memorable one!

Hope to hear from you soon.

Important

I am available 7 days a week, but if you prefer popular tourist destinations, please select weekdays. Additionally, my tours have a minimum duration of 5 hours.

Knowledgeable and a great guide!

We had a great experience with Ritsuko. Her love for travel and food showed as she took us around Tokyo. She showed us how to use the subway (it's nice to have a local show you the ropes) and took us to some wonderful places at the Tsujiki fish market and some other spots. This type of experience is hands down the way to see Tokyo. I look forward to our next visit there!

Hi Irene, Thank you so much for your positive review. Your feedback means a lot to me, and it was MY pleasure to be your guide. I am also glad Madison enjoyed the salmon and octopus very much. As Tokyo has many more fascinating places to explore, I look forward to welcoming you three back in the future. Take care and stay healthy!

reliable and efficient

I wouldn't normally use a guide but I found Ritsuko to be very flexible, and good company for a revised schedule. Also, a good walker with energy to cover quite a distance so that suited me just fine. Thank you Ritsuko for your professional guiding and best wishes.

Hi Kristian, Thank you very much for your kind words. It was my pleasure to guide you around Tokyo despite the unfortunate change in your plans. I’m glad you enjoyed our revised itinerary including Meiji Shrine and Ueno. Next time, let’s make sure we visit Yokohama as planned. There are many wonderful places to explore, and I look forward to showing you around. All the best!

“Perfect Day in Tokyo”

WOW! A great day visiting the sites in in Tokyo with Ritsuko. After booking with Ritsuko, I received a message from her asking what we wanted to see. I was more interested in Hidden gems, and not so much "in" the city of Tokyo, just the outskirts of Tokyo. She put together a well planned itinerary and made sure we hit a few of the hot spots plus several off the beaten path. Ritsuko was the perfect guide for us; just the right amount of information about the sites without overwhelming us with all the details and history. Her diverse background and knowledge allowed Ritsuko to connect eastern culture with western travelers. She is fluent in English and it was easy to have and hold a conversation with her. We Would highly recommend working/guiding with her if you’re looking to see the sites in Tokyo. it was definitely a sad moment when we departed at the end of the day. We hope one day to reconnect with her back in Japan or her visiting with us in America. Thank you so much for spending the day with both Mark and I.

Hi Angela and Mark, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and detailed review! I also want to thank you for sharing the lovely photos from our tour. Before meeting in person, your enthusiasm and effort in researching the city impressed me and made our planning process more enjoyable. Also, it means a lot to me that you appreciated the hidden gems which I love. Spending the day with you both felt more like exploring with friends than work. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever return to Tokyo. Take care and stay healthy!

Japan

I came to Japan in 1998, intending to stay a few months, but enjoying Japan, I never left. I was intrigued by the history, culture, language, and food. And the fascination and excitement of exploring and learning new things about Japan still exists with me today. The variety and choices of things to do and places to go can be overwhelming. I can offer you suggestions and a unique perspective on Japan. I can share local knowledge about things often missed. Fluent in Japanese with a master's degree in Japanese Studies and living in Japan for over 20 years, I can be your guide.

Japan

Hello! My name is Grant, and I’ve spent over a decade living and exploring Japan. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. This passion led me to pass the N2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test in 2018, study at language schools across Japan, and graduate from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy. I’ve traveled to every prefecture in Japan, often using unlimited rail passes to explore castles, historic sites, and regional specialties. I hold a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and my extensive experience living in Tokyo has made me an expert on the city’s transportation system, hidden gems, and affordable eats. With over 30 visits to Kyoto, I have deep knowledge of its historical sites and the broader cultural landscape of Japan. I studied at Japanese language school in Kyoto. I visited all the world heritage sites in Kyoto and have a lot of knowledge on the history of Japan. I can provide tours of Kyoto or places outside of Tokyo for an additional transportation fee. Tour options: Half-Day Tour: 20,000 yen (4 hours) Full-Day Tour: 40,000 yen (8 hours) Full-Day Tour Outside of Tokyo: 40,000 yen plus transportation expense
