Take JR Train from Tokyo Station to Kamakura
It takes about 1 hour.
Hokokuji
Known for its serene bamboo grove and tranquil Zen garden, it's a peaceful escape from the bustling city. The admission fee is 400 yen/person.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu
Take you to the historic Shinto shrine originally founded in 1063 which played a central role during the Kamakura period (1185–1333), when Kamakura was the political capital of Japan.

The Great Buddha at Kotokuin
Visit an iconic bronze statue of Amida Buddha, standing approximately 11.4 meters tall. It was originally constructed in the 13th century and once housed inside a temple building that was later destroyed by natural disasters. The admission fee is 300 yen/person.
Hase Temple
Let's go to a beautiful Buddhist temple known for its impressive statue of Kannon which stands over 9 meters tall. It is built on a hillside offering panoramic views of Kamakura and the coastline. The admission fee is 400 yen/person.
Head back to Tokyo Station by enoden and JR
It takes about 1.5 hours.

“Fabulous Day in Toyko”
Our day with Ritsuko was perfect for us. She tailored the day to what we wanted to see and do. She gave us history and context to the sights we were seeing on a very personalized level. Remember touring this way means taking local transportation and a lot of walking. This was just the way we like to see a city. She helped us with everything from buying train and subway tickets, picking a local restaurant when it was lunch time and helping us navigate the shopping district and department store purchases. We were a party of four and everyone agreed we were 100% satisfied with our day in TOYKO. We highly recommend her.

“Fantastic!! We loved every minute”
From meeting us at the hotel Ritsuko was super friendly and welcoming. We headed straight into the tour and using the subway which was brilliant to get us used to how it worked on our first day in Tokyo. The tour had been edited as we wanted to see traditional Japan but also to see the Shibuya crossing. Ritsuko amended this for us and ensured the we were able to fit everything in as well as plenty of time for unplanned stops too! We cannot recommend highly enough Ritsuko was so easy to chat to and so knowledgeable too. It was such an informative tour with lovely conversation and finding out things that we would never have known if we had navigated the city ourselves, not just the history but lots about Japanese culture too. A day trip in Kamakura
Kamakura is an old historic and cultural city where it takes about only one hour train ride from Tokyo. It was the late 12th century when Minamoto Yoritomo founded the Kamakura Shogunate here in 1185 as Japan's first Samurai government. Many shrines and temples were built as the guardian deity of the samurai. We will visit famous Zen temples such as Engakuji Temple and Kenchoji Temple as well as Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, the open air Great Budda of Kamakura and Hasedera Temple.
