About Tour Guide Melody S.

Hi! I’m a nationally licensed tour guide with in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture, history, and geography.

I was born in a suburb and raised in Tokyo, which gives me both a local and metropolitan perspective on Japan.

I studied abroad in the United States and the United Kingdom, where I met wonderful people from all over the world and developed a truly global mindset.

Before becoming a full-time guide, I worked as an IT engineer, hotel receptionist, and manager of a maid cafe—experiences that help me connect naturally with travelers from many different backgrounds.

Fantastic Intro to Japanese Culture

Melody was kind enough to meet me at Narita airport and help me navigate the trains (3!) to Numazu for a conference. It was wonderful because, after a long trip, it made my first few hours in Japan far less stressful and anxious. However, what was unexpected was how much I learned about Japan and Japanese culture in the few short hours we were together. Melody's knowledge is very deep and they enjoy sharing it and teaching about Japan. They also were interested in me and my background, which was helpful for tailoring the information to my interests. Melody is a wonderful, friendly, outgoing guide.

Tiffany, thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. It was truly a pleasure meeting you at Narita Airport and helping you begin your journey in Japan. I’m very happy to hear that our time together made your arrival and the train transfers to Numazu less stressful. I always try to tailor my tours and explanations to each guest’s interests, so I’m glad you felt that personal connection during our few hours together. During just a few hours, we experienced the Narita Express, the Shinkansen with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji from the train window, and a crowded local train during rush hour — very “Japanese travel experiences”! Thank you again for choosing me to assist you, and I hope the rest of your stay in Japan will be both successful and memorable. I’m sure it will be as gorgeous and memorable as Mt. Fuji itself. I would be delighted to see you again on a future trip to Japan!

Full day tour with Melody

My husband and I had a full day tour with Melody. At the start he was friendly and welcoming. He made sure throughout the day we were comfortable and watched out for us in the very busy train stations. He was knowledgeable in every aspect of Japanese culture and history. It was easy to carry a conversation and joke with him. Our day was filled with excellent attractions and he was flexible in adapting our itinerary. For lunch he recommended his favorite sushi restaurant at the fish market and it was exceptional. Very authentic food. I highly recommend Melody to show you his beautiful Tokyo.

Robin, thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was truly my pleasure and honor to give you an introduction to Japan. I really enjoyed all the jokes we shared throughout the day, which made the tour even more memorable and entertaining for me as well. It’s amazing that in just one day we were able to experience so many fascinating places, including the Sanja Festival in Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree, the Sumida River cruise, Hamarikyu Japanese Garden, Tsukiji Outer Market (Best sushi restaurant!), and Hie Shrine. I hope you continue to enjoy the rest of your time in Japan and create many more unforgettable memories. I sincerely look forward to seeing you again someday!

Amazing tour guide. Knowledgeable, friendly and filled with smiles

We had an amazing day filled with laughter, fun and great experiences. Melody is very knowledgeable about Tokyo and made sure that we knew everything about our day that he helped plan. We had alot of fun and 1 highlight was the maid bar, a must see. We highly recommend him and would definitely use him again in the future tou will not be disappointed. Also he is very funny and makes you feel like you are a part of his own family. Great job.

Jamie, thank you so much for your wonderful review! We were laughing throughout the entire tour, and I think that was because all of you were such kind and fun people. We visited a museum, temple, fish market, the starting point of Japan’s milestone system, and the anime district together. The photos were especially unique — samurai armor, kimono, your family’s favorite maid, and Godzilla! I’m sure these pictures will go viral on your influencer social media accounts as well. I’m already looking forward to seeing you again, talking more, and taking many more photos together someday!
