About Tour Guide Melody S.
Hi! I’m a nationally licensed tour guide with in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture, history, and geography.
I was born in a suburb and raised in Tokyo, which gives me both a local and metropolitan perspective on Japan.
I studied abroad in the United States and the United Kingdom, where I met wonderful people from all over the world and developed a truly global mindset.
Before becoming a full-time guide, I worked as an IT engineer, hotel receptionist, and manager of a maid cafe—experiences that help me connect naturally with travelers from many different backgrounds.

Akihabara Maid Cafe Tour by Former Maid Cafe Manager
The first maid cafe was started in Akihabara. Nowadays, there are around 200 maid cafes alone in Akihabara. Maids will welcome guests of all genders, generations, and nationalities, but some have difficulties in English communication. No problem. I can help you talk to them! The good news is that I was a manager at one of the largest maid cafe chains and led 40 maids. Other Otaku activities are also included in the tour. Hopefully, all anime, pop idol, and gadget Otaku can enjoy the tour!

“Standout Experience for us at Tokyo”
My fiancée and I travelled to Japan to celebrate my birthday for two weeks. Our time with Melody was a highlight for us both. Our original guide had gotten ill but Melody was able to jump in with a 24-hour notice to save us for our custom-made food tour. He took us to local spots and restaurants that were truly inaccessible on our own. Along the way and even after the tour, Melody provided so many helpful suggestion and links catered towards our questions. He had such a passion for Tokyo culture and was a down-to-earth guide who can roll with our plans. It was difficult to find places open on 12/31 but Melody made it easy as his translation and communication skills are top-notch. The only mistake we made was not booking Melody sooner. Melody is truly an outstanding guide who goes above and beyond for his visitors and will help you find whatever it is you're looking for in the big city. We cannot recommend Melody enough!

Taylor, thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Life is sometimes full of coincidences, and it feels like the greatest luck that we became best friends starting purely by chance. We share so many interests—art, anime, games, onsen, food—and we’re from the same generation as well. It was truly an honor to let you experience a local New Year’s Eve with me. I hope to see you again!

Rick, thank you very much for your heartwarming review. Yes, we packed in many spots at your request, since you only had one day in Tokyo. We walked more than 8 miles in a single day ; ) I hope you were able to recover the next morning. We had so many interesting conversations and shared lots of laughs. I hope the rest of your travels in Japan—and in other countries as well—will be wonderful. Hope to see you again someday! Arigato Gozaimasu.

“perfect day”
I had an absolutely amazing day with my tour guide, Melody, in Tokyo. He took me to the famous fish market where we had incredible sushi, followed by some of the best, most authentic ramen I’ve ever had. He also showed me a maid café and many other unique spots around the city that I never would have found on my own. What really made the experience special was how Melody treated me like family. From start to finish, I enjoyed every single minute of the day—nothing felt rushed, and everything felt personal and thoughtful. You truly can’t beat that kind of hospitality. I highly recommend Melody to anyone looking for a tour guide in Tokyo. If you want an authentic, memorable experience with someone who genuinely cares about your time, he’s the one.

I’m truly happy to hear that we had such an amazing time in Tokyo and that you enjoyed the fish market sushi, authentic ramen, and unique spots like the maid cafe. It means a lot to me that you felt comfortable and welcomed, and that the tour felt personal and relaxing—this is exactly what I aim to provide. Spending the days together and sharing Tokyo with you was a real pleasure, and your words about being treated like family genuinely touched me. Yes, we are family! I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Kanagawa prefecture. I was born in Kanagawa. I spent my whole school life, including university, here in Kanagawa. I worked as a high school English teacher here for more than 40 years. I love Kanagawa so much. We have many interesting tourist spots, like Hakone, Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama. I got my tour guide license in English in 2009. I am still an English teacher. To give an interesting and impressive lesson to young high school students, I’ve learnt and gathered many kinds of information. I also have a license to teach social studies, so I have a wide range of knowledge about Japanese culture and history. I’m sure to provide you an interesting tour.

Grant A.
Important note: I am currently not able to take new customers after the end of March, 2026. My name is Grant, and I’ve spent over a decade living and exploring Japan. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for Japanese language, culture, and history. I hold an N2 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and I graduated from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy. I’ve visited all 47 prefectures and explored a wide range of historical sites, shrines, and castles throughout the country. My background in Japanese history helps me provide context that brings depth and meaning to the places we visit—whether it's understanding a centuries-old temple in Kyoto, the story behind a castle ruin, or uncovering the historical layers of a Tokyo neighborhood. If you’re planning to explore Tokyo, here are some tour options to consider: One day in Tokyo? The Ginza Line Tour offers a great introduction to the city’s highlights. Two days? Pair the East Tokyo Tour and West Tokyo Tour to get a well-rounded experience. Interested in anime? The Anime Tour is flexible and can be tailored to match your specific interests. For those looking to go beyond the city, I also offer day trips to Nikko, Kamakura, and other nearby destinations. Full-Day Tour: 40,000 yen (8 hours) Full-Day Tour Outside of Tokyo: 40,000 yen + transportation Feel free to get in touch to plan a tour that fits your interests and travel plans.
