About Tour Guide Melody S.
Hi! I’m a nationally licensed tour guide with in-depth knowledge of Japanese culture, history, and geography.
I was born in a suburb and raised in Tokyo, which gives me both a local and metropolitan perspective on Japan.
I studied abroad in the United States and the United Kingdom, where I met wonderful people from all over the world and developed a truly global mindset.
Before becoming a full-time guide, I worked as an IT engineer, hotel receptionist, and manager of a maid cafe—experiences that help me connect naturally with travelers from many different backgrounds.

Akihabara Maid Cafe Tour by Former Maid Cafe Manager
The first maid cafe was started in Akihabara. Nowadays, there are around 200 maid cafes alone in Akihabara. Maids will welcome guests of all genders, generations, and nationalities, but some have difficulties in English communication. No problem. I can help you talk to them! The good news is that I was a manager at one of the largest maid cafe chains and led 40 maids. Other Otaku activities are also included in the tour. Hopefully, all anime, pop idol, and gadget Otaku can enjoy the tour!

“Five stars for great tours of Tokyo with Melody”
I had the pleasure of hiring Melody for two tours in Tokyo, and each was exceptional. Thanks to him, my group and I were able to experience so much of the city: from Meiji Jingu shrine to Tsukiji Outer Market, Senso-ji temple, Harajuku, and so much more. Melody’s English is good, making everything easy to understand, and his passion for his job shines through. He brought each neighborhood to life with interesting details that we would have completely missed on our own. We covered an incredible amount of ground while never feeling rushed, and we always felt well taken care of. Five stars without hesitation.

June, thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! Visiting Atami was truly the perfect choice—the town was lively and full of local Japanese people, still largely undiscovered by international tourists. From the bullet train ride, seeing Mt. Fuji through the train window, enjoying delicious red snapper, capsule toys, strawberry desserts, to the breathtaking views at the art museum—it was such a memorable experience. Let’s definitely try an onsen hot spring next time! I already miss you so much as well!

Ayami M.

Koichiro Y.
Hello! I’m Koichiro. Please call me “Yamasan”. It derives from my family name and my friends call me so. I worked for a machinery company as a project manager and engineer for mechanical and electrical construction projects both domestic and overseas for over 35 years. I recall my first overseas project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when I was 26, and the second was in Singapore. I visited many countries for surveys, meetings, commissioning, project handing over, and so on. In 2014 at the age of 60, I decided to retire from the company and live the expected further 30 years of life with a new career and experiences. I, then, studied translation and guide interpretation. I passed the national examination for licensed guides (English) in 2015 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2016. Until now, I have been guiding many beautiful guests mainly to popular sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Omote-Sando, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree, and also cultural experiences of Origami making, Furoshiki wrapping, and Sushi cooking. I am happy that I can freely arrange a customized tour together with you, or can propose my tours to you. I want to show you some parts of daily Tokyo life and introduce you to Bunkyo City which is located in the heart of Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live a happy life now. Now, we can tour around the world but have not yet overcome COVID-19 completely. Recently, the number of passengers wearing masks on public transportation in Tokyo reduced to some 25% but we should mind about it still. Please carry your mask to wear it where or when necessary (December 2024, Yamasan).
