About Tour Guide Rafael G.

I've been guiding family and friends in Mexico for over 30 years, arranging tours, van rentals, accomodation, excursions, archaeological visits, museums, etc., Now I completed my official general guide course in order to be certified by the government to guide national & international guests. I love my country, its culture, history, etc. and know a lot of interesting facts besides the normal guidance for tourists. I've travelled extensively across the country and love to share my knowledge because it's like rediscovering everythin again!

Reviews

A 'tour de force' highly impactful and memorable stay much enhanced by Rafael's experience, personality and efforts.

We were most fortunate to engage Rafael for three days while in Mexico City. He curated a most extra-ordinary experience that immersed us in the long and complex arc of Mexican history covering pre-Columbian empires, Spanish colonialism and the modern tumult since independence. He was highly knowledgeable about details but wrapped the information in digestible bites that were both impactful and memorable with just the right touch of humor. He was flexible and responsive, adjusting aspects as we went along based on interests and energy levels. He also provided us with some 'out of the usual lanes' experiences that included the culinary. We would highly recommend Rafael if you are considering a stay in Mexico.

Michael you are very kind for writing this extensive review, I'm flattered by your comments. Thanks so much and for me it was also a time for learning and enjoying your company and Annette's of course. Hope to see you soon again in Mexico! Best regards dear friend...

Best guide

Rafael is the best travel guide you will ever have! He is extremely well studied as a historian and brings tons of personal experience and knowledge from a life spent well traveled. He is easy going and flexible, so your trip can be tailored to your interests and adapted as you go along. You will see and do things that only a local could show you. I went on a vacation, but left with a friend!

Dear Danielle, I'm so flattered and honored because of your comments... I also began my days with you as "work" but ended enjoying your company so much that I felt as a travel mate, not only a guide. Thanks very very much and I look forward to travel with you again soon! Best wishes for you!

The highlight of our 10 day trip to Mexico City

My husband and I arranged to have Rafael take us on a guided tour of Teotihuacan. He picked us up at our airbnb at 7 am so that we could be at the site when it opened. Rafael was incredibly knowledgeable and as we drove to the pyramids he gave us so much interesting background information not only about Teotihuacan but also about Mexican history and culture. We had visited the Museum of Anthropology the day before this tour which was helpful, however, the way in which Rafael guided us through the site, the incredible information he provided, and the insights he offered to the various and multiple aspects of Teotihuacan provided for a much deeper understanding of the historical and cultural context. I would highly recommend Rafael as a guide. His depth of knowledge and his excellent communication skills allowed us to have an immersive experience of seeing Teotihuacan that will go on our top life experiences. In addition to being knowledgeable, Rafael is just a great person. He is generous with his knowledge and time, and helped us with plans for a couple of days after the tour. He is enthusiastic, warm and funny. I would give him 5/5. Thank you Rafael for this experience.
