For this Nagoya sightseeing,  you only have to pay 500 yen coin for transportation fee a day.  Sightseeing tour route bus takes you to every nice spot for sightseeing.  At first,  you can enjoy experiencing of making folding fan.  It's so interesting because a shop owner, a master of making folding fan teaches you how to make fan so politely.  Of course, you can take it to your country as a good souvenir!  Then, you visit Nagoya Castle and Tokugawaen Garden.  The castle has a magnificent main palace, so you can see amazing Japanese craftsmanship there.  Ninja, or Japanese old cool spy and famous samurai, such as Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu walk around the castle, so you can take pictures with them and talk to them in English.  Surprising to say, they all can speak English so fluently.  You also enjoy Tokugawaen Garden.  It was used as a real garden for retired second Owari(old name for Nagoya) feudal domain castle lord. I think it would be a good idea to have lunch  at a Japanese restaurant adjacent to the garden or the castle.  In Sakae, you can see TV tower and unique modern monument, we call it "Aqua-Walk". Nagoya is the 4th largest city in Japan with a population of about 2.2 million.  I would like to guide you Nagoya Castle, Osu Kannon Temple, old shopping streets, Oasis21 and Nagoya TV Tower.

Nagoya Castle was first built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1612.  Afterwards  it was burnt down in 1945 and it was reconstructed in 1959.  You can see Golden Shachi on the both ends of the top roof.  Furthermore the Honmaru (the keep of a castle) reconstructed in 2013 is open to the public, too.  You can see beautifully decorated wall paintings in the Honmaru. 

Osu Kannon is popluarly known as one of the three Kannons in Japan.  And next to the Temple, we can walk through Osu old shopping streets. It is a mix-cultured town.

Sakae is the central area of business in Nagoya. You can enjoy Oasis21 and Nagoya TV Tower near Sakae.  Oasis21 is a big roof made of glass foating in the air. It is called "Water Space Ship."  

Nagota TV Tower used to be built as a broadcasting tower in 1954 and played the role until 2011.  Now the TV Tower is lit up by using 100,000 LEDs.  So we can enjoy the night view from the observatory of  TV Tower.  in particular the TV Tower viewed from Oasis21 is the best, 

Local foods are Hitsumabushi, Misonikomi-udon, and Kishimen.
Hitsumabushi is a bowl of rice topped with finely chopped grilled eels.  Misonikomi-udon is a udon noodle boiled in miso (fermented soybean paste) soup.  kishimen is wider or flatter noodle than usual udon noodle.

Toyota Commemorative museum of Industry and Technology: You can learn the history of " TOYOTA" company from its founding in 1902 to today. There are a wide variety of exhibits of original machineries invented by Sakichi Toyoda who is the founder of original "Toyoda" and you will enjoy live demonstrations by English speaking staffs. You can also enjoy the exhibition of TOYOTA's all cars and live demonstrations.
Tokugawa Art Museum: It's a private museum established by the descendants of Owari Tokugawa family to prevent their private private art collection. You can see exquisite art works, samurai arms & armor, tea ceremony utensils and so on. They are all used by the successive Lords and their wives & children of  Daimyo Family. Feel the atmosphere of the Daimyo's life in Edo era.

Takayama is situated in a narrow and flat land surrounded by high mountains. Now it has become a hometown of many Japanese people since the access by rail and road has been improved so much.  Developed after a Kyoto-style town-planning scheme under the administration of Lord Takayama in 1600s, the town is divided into three areas such as Samurai houses, Buddhist Temples and merchants' quarters.
I would like to take you to Takayama Jinya, Kami-sannomachi avenue, and Yatai Floats Museum.
  
Takayama Jinya was the Edo Government office complex of Takayama district from 1692 to the Meiji Restoration in 1868.  It served as the administration of office and court.   Takayama Jinya is the only remaining jinya though there were almost 60 government offices at the end of Edo Period.

Kami-sannomachi avenue is a narrow road lined with wooden houses with low hanging eaves and lattice windows as in the Edo days.  You can drop in at handicraft shops, enjoy sake-tasting and Hida beef for lunch.

Takayama is famous for the colorful Takayama Festival in spring and autumn with highly decorated floats being pulled out in the streets.  Japanese associate Takayama Festival with Gion Festival held in Kyoto.  Yatai Floats Museum exhibits floats and palanquines all year around.

From Kyoto, it takes nearly 3 hours, so I would like to give you the Takayama guide for 6 hours from 11:00 A.M. to 5 oclock P.M.   I would recommend you stay at Takayama  after the tour and next day you join my tour guide of Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage site "https://triplelights.com/japan/tour/gifu-by-hideo-259". 

Takayama (Little Kyoto)

Nagoya is located in the center of Japan with a population of 2.3 million, 4th largest city in Jepan. The number of the tourists visiting Nagoya has been increasing recently.
However, it is still much fewer compared with that of Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. So most tourist spots in Nagoya are not much crowded and you can enjoy sightseeing without any stress in the crowd. I'll guide you first in Nagoya Castle, which was originally built in 1612 by Tokugawa Ieyasu who is the first Shogun of Edo Shogunate.
Main Castle Tower and Main Palace were burnt down in 1945 by air bombing during WWⅡ and restored in 1959 and in 2013, respectively. Main Castle Tower is almost 60 years old and it is to be reconstructed made of wood to be completely same as the original one.  Admission to the current Castle Tower will be suspended from May 7 2018 to its completion in December 2022. So it is the last chance to see the current Castle Tower. The last stage of the restoration of Main Palace is almost completed and open to the public on June 8th 2018. Moreover, Kinshachi Yokocho which is modeled after Okage Yokocho in Ise opened in March 2018 on the main gate and east gate sides of the Nagoya Castle premises as areas offering delicious local cuisine unique to Nagoya. Why don't you have a lunch here?   Next you go to Osu.  Osu is famous for its Buddist Temple.  The nearby shopping arcades have been thriving since Edo period with many secondhand stores and street food stalls. Both oldsters and youngsters are hunging out there. You can shopping and get some nice souvenirs there.  Osu is similar to Asakusa in Tokyo.  Our final destination is Sakae in the central Nagoya, where you can enjoy shoppind, dining and entertainment both daytime and at night. Nagoya TV Tower is the must, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nagoya's downtown from its observation deck. Oasis 21 is a new tourist spot ranking second in the Photogenic division by TripAdvisor, where you can take a picture of a SPACESHIP(?).

If you are interested in art and craft, especially local textile craft and porcelain art, this is the tour for you.  You will learn some of Nagoya’s traditional craft industry and culture through visits to these two art and craft places with unique history.  You can also learn and try techniques of Arimatsu Tie-Dyeing  yourself and bring back home your creative work as a souvenir.  
If you wish, it is possible to experience hand-painting on a plate or a mug at Noritake Craft Center as well but please note that your creation is baked later and sent to any address within Japan but not overseas.
