Nagoya was originated by Ieyasu Tokugawa, who was the first Shogun of Tokugawa Shogunate, starting in 1603. Also other historical samurai heroes as a predecessor, Nobunaga Oda and Hideyoshi Toyotomi were born in Nagoya as well. So Nagoya is a kind of home town of Samurai in Japan. You will be able to understand the culture and spirits of Samurai which has been inherited to the part of current Japanese people's mind and behavior. Through the tour I am willing to talk about Japanese history, culture and society if you are interested in knowing such topics.
As other options, I can accommodate to visit other destination such as Tokugawa museum, which owns several national treasures. Inuyama Castle, registered as National Treasure may be the attractive destination if you like Japanese history and architect. It is about 40 min. train ride to Inuyama from Nagoya station. If you are interested in shopping, I can take you to high end department stores or the latest shopping mall. If you like to stroll about the town, Shikemichi is a historic townscape conservation district, 20 min. walk away from Nagoya station.

“Roy is an Excellent Guide!”
Four of us hired Roy for a tour of Nagoya, and it was great. We took subways and trains, visited Atsuta Shrine, Nagoya Castle, shopping areas and much more. We had a very nice lunch, and enjoyed Roy's deep knowledge of the area and Japanese history. It was really enjoyable learning the history behind the sites we visited. I would strongly recommend Roy as a tour guide. His English is great, and we enjoyed his tour very much!

David-san, I was grateful for your choosing me as a tour guide in Nagoya. I really enjoyed the conversation with you and your people about Japan and the US. It was a good fortune for us to see the first visit of a baby to Atsuta Shrine, called OMIYA-MAIRI, accompanied with their parents and grand parents as well as a bride and bridegroom, wearing formal Kimono. I do hope that you will keep enjoying the rest of Japan trip safely. Best Regards, Roy
