“Memories of Hiroshima ”
Rika met us at the cruise terminal with a big smile and a hug. That set the tone for the day! She skilfully guided us round both Miyajima Island and Hiroshima Peace Park and we learned such a lot from her. Her English is perfect and she knows how to avoid the inevitable crowds of tourists. For example, rather than going to the large, and very busy museum in the Peace Park, she took us to a small museum housed in what was left of a school after the bombing and which had been made safe. We had that to ourselves and it truly painted a picture of the devastation caused by the bomb. 400 children died in that school. Rika told us so much about the resilience of the Japanese people, how someone restored a water supply within a day and schools were reopened in a matter of weeks, as soon as the buildings were deemed safe. When in the Peace Park itself, Rika explained about the Axis of Peace. It was very poignant and will be imprinted on our memories forever. On a lighter note, Miyajima Island was beautiful and Rika skilfully guided us round so we could see everything to the best advantage, avoiding the worst of the crowds. It was a 3 day Japanese holiday so she knew it would be busier than normal. We had a local dish of cabbage pancakes (Okonomiyaki) for lunch in an authentic restaurant tucked away from the crowds of tourists. They were delicious. All in all we had a wonderful day with Rika and would thoroughly recommend her as a guide.

Thank you so much for your truly thoughtful and beautiful review. Spending the day with you both was very special for me as well. From the very first moment at the cruise terminal, your warm smiles made me feel relaxed and genuinely happy. I’m really glad that the places we visited, especially the small school museum, left a meaningful impression on you. It means a lot to me that you connected not only with Hiroshima’s history, but also with the spirit and resilience of the people here. And I’m so happy you enjoyed Miyajima and our okonomiyaki lunch. it’s one of those simple, local moments I love sharing. Thank you again for such a memorable day together. Your kindness and openness stayed with me, and I truly hope our paths will cross again someday. Rika

“Hiroshima with our guide Rika”
We had the most revealing day learning all about Hiroshima with our lovely guide Rika. She was able to bring to life the horrors of that day but still show us the beauty and resilience of a city and its people. Her itinerary was well planned and she took us to a fantastic local place for lunch that was fun and delicious. Thank you again Rika for a very memorable day.

Miyu F.
My name is Miyu. I have been a Nationally Licensed Guide Interpreter since 2009. I began my career as a tourist guide last year after working as a public servant for nearly four decades. I worked in the Atomic Bomb Survivors Support Division for 12 years until I retired from the local government, and I continue to interact with Hibakusha. Therefore, I have a lot of knowledge about A-bomb survivors, the reconstruction of Hiroshima, and the effects of radiation on the human body, which I can correctly convey to inbound visitors. I have experience in tea ceremonies and calligraphy and am especially good at guiding visitors through tea ceremony experiences. I love to watch baseball games, so I enjoy talking about them with guests from countries where they are popular. I am a volunteer medical interpreter and can respond to visitors' sudden health problems.

Naomi K.
Hello, I’m Naomi, a certified guide. I live in the peaceful countryside of Hiroshima, where I am a rice farmer, writer, and mother of three. Our family resides in a 200-year-old traditional farmhouse, surrounded by nature and history. I began learning English again at the age of 40, and although I don’t have much overseas experience, guiding visitors has become one of my greatest joys. Sharing Japan through my own eyes makes every encounter exciting and meaningful. I love welcoming people and building connections across cultures. If my hospitality can add a special touch to your journey in Japan, it would bring me great happiness. I look forward to meeting you—thank you!
