About Tour Guide Midori N.
Hello, welcome to my page! My name is Midori which means GREEN in Japanese. You can call me Midori or Green. I grew up and have lived all my life in Yamanashi Prefecture where Mt. Fuji is and it is only 2 hours bus riding from Tokyo.
In my spare time, I hike and play badminton. I also like spending time with my two cats in my free time.
I became a National Licensed Tour Guide in 2014, but I started working as a guide mainly in 2023. I worked for an English conversation school in Japan for 23 years and was teaching English and also helping Japanese students to become better English speakers.
I realize that teaching and guiding are similar because the essential thing in both is that I could entertain people and I can respond to their requests.
When I was in my 20s, I visited many countries. There I had locals or other tourists help me a lot, which made my time unforgettable. Therefore, as a guide, I would really like to assist your trip so that you can have a blast without inconvenience in Japan.
In addition, in my tour, I would like to talk about not only how beautiful Mt.Fuji is but also how historical and attractive it is.
If you are interested in my tour, please feel free to contact me. You can choose my fixed tour or if you wish, I can customize and make a perfect itinerary based on your requests.
Let’s make an awesome trip together at the foot of Mt. Fuji!
I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

“Customised Mt Fuji tour”
We started the tour much earlier to avoid the tourist mass. Midori was at the agreed location 20minutes earlier. We visited 3 sites and had lunch. The tour went exceptionally smooth. She is very knowledgeable and caring. This is one highlight that will stand out in our visit to japan.

Thank you very much for your five-star rating and your thoughtful comments. Starting earlier, as you suggested, helped make the entire tour smooth and perfect. Although I was a bit worried about the weather, we were lucky to begin the day with a beautiful view of Mt. Fuji. Thank you as well for your interest and for listening so attentively to my explanations. I truly had a wonderful time guiding you. Again, I appreciate your kind feedback. I hope you continue to enjoy exploring Japan.

“Stunning hike at Mt Fuji”
Midori was an attentive guide. She planned and coordinated our entire 8 hour day taking into account what we wanted to see and do and included our particular food preferences (Hoto Noodles!). We wish we had her on more of our trip to keep things running smooth and seamlessly.

I live in Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan. I am a certified National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in English. I acquired my certificate in February 2017. I can guide in the areas of Yamanashi, Nagano, and the Greater Tokyo Area and more depending on your interests. Yamanashi is located at the base of Mount Fuji, so it is easy to visit there. Great views of Mount Fuji and strolling in the nostalgic areas of an old town are available. And also, the snow monkey park is not very far. I will offer customized-private tours designed around your interests, and I will adapt the tours and make them flexible to fit your needs. Each tour will be enjoyable and memorable. However, the hardest part will be choosing which place and what you would like to explore. I am available for consultation should you need it. I was educated in Japan and the USA. I have a Ph.D. in Biology and I did my post-doc career in the US. I worked in the R&D and Quality Control departments in cosmetics companies and I was a laboratory manager for a vegetable seeds company in Japan. I was a research scientist in New Zealand for a short time. I planned the industry tours for foreign specialists and guided them to the corresponding enterprises. I grew Oriental vegetables for commercial purposes for a company in the UK. I was a rice cultivation assistant in Africa as a member of the Japanese Peace Corps. I visited Iran, Iraq, and Syria as a member of a goodwill mission organized by the government. After retirement, I have been a tour guide. I accompany guests on offshore trips from cruise ships. I can arrange walking tours in the Aogihara Forest area including lava caves like the Ice Cave and Wind Cave, and also strolling tours in the nostalgic town of Yamanashi. I have two websites guiding about Yamanashi and Mount Fuji areas.
