I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. It was a great opportunity such as to attend patients with covid and others illnesses. I came to reconsider safety and security is very important for travellers to relax and enjoy. I live in Chiba prefecture, commuting area to Tokyo. I was born in a family of Buddhism priest in Fukushima, So, I like to show you traditional temples and shrines just as a part of everyday life. “Amazing day and experience!”
Ryo was the best guide. With his knowledge of the place as a local and his always smile he showed us around and adapted on the go to our needs and expectations. He was very patient with our son and made a great tour which could also attract his (short) attention. Important: he speaks perfect English, unlike other guides who apparently don’t make it easy… I definitely recommend him and would do another tour with him at any time if I could.
