In this tour, we will visit 2 major sites in Datong, Shanxi province. Yungang Grottoes, the landmark in Datong, is the cultural icon in Shanxi, and even the whole China. It is one of the three most famous ancient Buddhist sculptural sites of China. Xuankong Temple, or the Hanging Monastery, is a temple built into a cliff, a peak into the religion, culture, and craftsmanship of Chinese people.

Yungang Grottoes
They are an outstanding example of the Chinese stone carvings from the 5th and 6th centuries. There are 53 major caves, along with 51,000 niches housing the same number of Buddha statues. Additionally, there are around 1,100 minor caves. A Ming Dynasty-era fort is still located on top of the cliff housing the Yungang Grottoes

“The super arranger for the Hanging Temple ”
Nancy did a great job in guiding us around in Datong, as well the highlights in the region. She's very knowledgeable and determined to show us thoroughly the Unesco-monuments. As the ascent tickets to the Hanging Temple are very limited, she made it her battle to obtain us tickets, and we were able to see this incredible site.
