Piazza Dante
Would you like an insight into daily life in the beautiful town of Naples?
The ancient city of Naples was built by the Greeks during the 5th century BC and the Greek culture is the basis of this multicolored city whose layout is similar to other cities in the motherland.
The city centre is always crowded with hundreds of people who come from all over the world to experience the life of this incredible city that looks like an open-air museum.
Narrow streets, small squares, hundreds of beautiful churches, Renaissance architecture mixing with older buildings, stores offering all kinds of street food, people's voices singing or performing in the streets and much more is what makes this city one of the most fascinating in the world.
Strolling through the ancient centre of Naples, the famous Greco-Roman town known as Neapolis, will give us the opportunity to see sublime churches teeming with sacred art, archaeological remains of the Greek and Roman city emerging from old buildings, artisan shops along the famous Via San Gregorio Armeno, the street where the very famous Neapolitan nativity scene is created and the remarkable Spaccanapoli, the street which seems to split the town of Naples in two.
During the visit we will also have the opportunity to taste some culinary specialties that the city offers.
From Piazza Dante we will move towards Piazza Bellini to have a look at the ancient Greek defensive wall. We will then stroll along Via Tribunali, the ancient Decumanus Major of the Roman time and reach San Gaetano Square. After the visit of the monuments of this area we will head towards Via San Gregorio Armeno where all the artisan shops are and reach Spaccanapoli. We will walk along this road until we get to the famous San Domenico square where we will hear the history of the place and its legends while looking at its beautiful monuments.
The tour will end up after you learn the history of San Domenico square and its legend.
