The history of Óbidos dates back to Roman times. For a long time, the walled village on top of the mountain was surrounded by a lagoon that had a water connection to the Atlantic Ocean, but today the lagoon has disappeared and been replaced by agricultural land.

Explore the castle walls on your way to the castle and enjoy panoramic views and return along the main street full of shops dedicated to souvenirs, restaurants and stores where you can sample delicious gastronomic experiences, especially sweets and the local drink Ginja de Óbidos.

Take a look at Praia do Norte with the geological formation of a deep canyon that causes the formation of the huge waves that make Nazaré famous for surfing.

Peniche is a fishing region and nowadays also a great surfing spot.

To the north we have the side beaches that provide access to Baleal, from where we can enjoy stunning views of the ocean.

The city grew on a high cape above the ocean, providing the necessary protection for fishermen when the sea gets rougher and is full of churches, good restaurants and historic buildings.

To the south we have Supertubos beach, famous for its surfing spots and its extensive sand.
