Hello! Welcome to the most beautiful city in the world: Lisbon. I was born and raised in here and I cannot see myself living in any other city. I have a Bachelor Degree in Tourism and was licensed National Tourist Guide in 1998. I finished a Degree in History in 2013 and in 2021 my Master in History and Philosophy of Science. I have been working as a tourist guide with german, english and portuguese speaking groups in roundtrips/circuits within the country. I have experience in hiking tours, cultural tours and guided tours of monuments and museums throughout the whole national territory. I manage the projects Passeios Literários and Lisbon by the Book — both specialized in literary guided tours of Lisbon, and work as a guide for both projects as well. I’m the co-creator and responsible for the development of guided tours through the cultural heritage of the city of Lisbon for the project História LX — History, Heritage and Culture of Lisbon. “A Fantastic Journey into Lisbon's World War II Espionage Scene”
We spent two fascinating hours with Marisa on her Spy Tour, walking the streets of Lisbon to see the historic meeting places and hotels of some of the city's most famous World War II spies. Marisa is so knowledgeable and an entertaining storyteller. We learned all about Agent Garbo and "Duško" Popov and the inspiration behind Ian Fleming's James Bond character. Marisa also gave us great insight into the atmosphere of Lisbon during the war, and how Salazar, Portugal's then dictator, navigated the tricky waters of neutrality. Marisa's expertise and enthusiasm for the topic shone. Her tour was one of the highlights of our trip. We highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Lisbon's World War II history and in the history of wartime espionage. Thanks, Marisa!
