Hello. My name is Eiichi and my nick name is Eddy. So, please call me Eddy because Eiichi is difficult for visitors to pronounce. I am a licensed guide interpreter certified by Japanese government. I was born and live in Chiba prefecture, which is next to Tokyo and I have worked in Tokyo for more than 20 years. So, I know Chiba and Tokyo very well. My hobby is ceramic art, golf, and Zen meditation, and I like traveling and reading history books. Based on these experience and knowledge, I will introduce Japanese culture and history. I used to work as an engineer for one of major electronic manufacturers which exports communication systems and components to overseas. Through the job, I visited many countries including New Zealand where I fortunately stayed for four years with my family. I have found it fun to communicate with people in other countries. So, after my recent retirement, I started to work as a licensed guide interpreter. I’m looking forward to meeting visitors who are interested in Japanese beautiful nature, unique culture, variety of foods or history.

Until 2015 I had been teaching English at public high schools in Kanagawa for 37 years. During that time, I had some experience of guiding students from overseas through sister-school relationship around Tokyo and Kanagawa. I worked and lived abroad more than 15 years mainly in the United States, Australia, Abu Dhabi, China and Malaysia. I also visited many places, some of them were on business purpose, and the others were as private travels. Visiting new places always gave me new discoveries and deep impressions, and I really like these feelings. I would like the visitors to Japan to feel such impressions, and I would like to assist them – this is the primary motivation for me to be a tour guide. One of my hobbies is trekking. One of the travels that made an impression on me was a mountain trekking at Nepal. I trekked 4 days through the hills over 3000m in Himalaya with mountain guide. Another nice experience was the trekking of Jungle in Sarawak island in Malaysia. The guides explained the natures such as plants, flowers, butterfly and insects of those areas in addition to the trails in both cases, and I really recognized the importance of the guiding. If the guides were not suitable, my memories on the travels might not be so nice. Japan is really beautiful country. It has seasonal beauty according to the four clear cut seasons.
