Barcelona Tour Guide - André O.

André O.

Spain

When I left my hometown Düsseldorf in 1999 to move to Barcelona, the Catalan capital was rather a polluted, shady and even dangerous industrial site than the trendy and cosmopolitan tourist destination it is nowadays. I came into town as a photographer and event manager and despite of Barcelona's guff post-industrial charm I was instantly overwhelmed by the creativity and passion of its people, their way of seeing things and to live their lives. With the time I got more and more attracted by tourism and achieved work experience as a property manager and travel consultor. Finally, I launched my own little travel consultancy in 2016 and since that I am offering luxury accommodations, DMC / concierge services and a wide range of day tours and group activities. My core business are private day tours from Barcelona to destinations like Girona, Tarragona, Sitges, Vic, Besalú or areas like Costa Brava, Penedés or Priorat. My mission is to leave the beaten path and to make my customers discover unique historical sites, beautiful landscapes, vibrant street life and amazing food and wine experiences. For the tour we use a comfy, private SUV that fits 4 passengers + driver / guide. The tours can be done in English, Spanish, French and German and they can generally be customised to meet the interests and needs of the group at any time. During the tour you get an idea of the long and diverse history of the sites, local traditions s.a. insights about lifestyle, culture and social concerns.

I'm a highly passionate and enthusiastic tour guide from Barcelona, well-versed in both the city's mainstream attractions and its lesser-known gems. Overall, food, history, urbanism, and architecture are my passions, but they truly come alive when I can share them with you. I firmly believe that a guided tour isn't just about me and my knowledge. It's about striking a balance between delivering quality information, exchanging culture, and, most importantly, considering the diverse personalities of my clients. Above all, I prioritize listening to your interests and preferences, ensuring that our interaction is tailored to meet your needs. I also welcome the opportunity to learn from your experiences and stories, enriching our mutual understanding if you're open to it. At the end of the day, my challenge is to provide you with an experience offering a 360º view (clear but not overwhelming) of Barcelona, Catalonia, and Spain. I want you to feel that when you return home, you've experienced and embraced a piece of Spain and old Europe. During our time together, I strive to make learning about history and art enjoyable while igniting your curiosity to continue exploring beyond our tour. And, I can't forget something fundamental – I'm always ready to introduce you to the local cuisine. If you're someone who loves experiencing a country through its flavors, you're in for a delightful culinary journey! About my background: With a degree in Languages and Literature, coupled with prior experience in Marketing, I bring a diverse skill set to my tours. Drawing from this background, I specialize in crafting immersive, personalized narratives that delve into Barcelona's architecture, urbanism, arts, politics, and social dynamics. For me, the true magic happens when I can bridge the gap between the past and present through the lens of present-day Barcelona.

Catalonia Tour Guide - Maica C.

Hello! I'm Maica, an enthusiast Barcelonian and in love with my city. Years ago, after completing my Hispanic University Studies, I moved to Scotland where I did a Msc in Applied Linguistics and worked as a tour guide for Spanish and Italian tourists. Seven years later I came back home. At first I taught Spanish to foreigners with my own methodology: using the street as a clasroom with lots of story telling techniques. It was doing so how I became a licensed tour guide, my passion. Now it's my full time job. I love it. It's extremely rewarding and it keeps me always busy exploring, reading and learning. As a licensed tour guide I have PREMIUM access, very convinient since when on holidays time is precious: we'll skip the lines in all monuments and museums!! Since you are the boss, I will design the best visit just for you. MY TOURS ARE TAILORED MADE depending on your time and interests, but to gain a feeling of local life, I'll make sure you won't miss some off the beaten-track sites . I'll be very happy to recommend, my main concern is to make you live unforgettable experiences. I'm very much used to dealing with all kinds of people and my explanations are very dynamic, instructive and a pleasure to the ears. I am very flexible and my tours are adapted either to shore excursions or private tours. I love to tour couples, friends, single visitors and, as a mother of a teenager, families as well. It will be a honor to accompany you while discovering all these treasures with which you will fall in love! Hope to meet you soon! Guiding epitomizes the art of sharing, where every interaction enriches life with passion and purpose ;-) Embracing a life of adventure and cultural exploration, I've called Denmark, Germany, Austria, and Ecuador home while pursuing my career in International Commerce. Armed with a Business Degree and a deep love for the great outdoors, I've also taken on the role of an official Hiking and Cycling guide. For the past two decades, Barcelona has been my sanctuary, where I've found joy in immersing myself in its vibrant culture and welcoming atmosphere. Traveling has always been my greatest inspiration, fueling my desire to extend hospitality to others, just as it was graciously extended to me. Among Barcelona's many treasures, I find solace in scaling the majestic cliffs and spires of Montserrat's North face, a natural wonder that never fails to awe me. But equally captivating is the simple pleasure of losing myself amidst the cobblestone alleys of the Gothic quarter, pedaling my way to the tranquil shores of the Mediterranean. My mission is to curate experiences that blend nature, sport, tradition, and history, offering travelers the opportunity to forge lasting memories and connections. Whether it's hiking through rugged landscapes, cycling along scenic routes, or delving into the city's rich tapestry of stories, I'm ready to guide you on an unforgettable journey of discovery.

Local Tour Guides in Barcelona

Let the region of Barcelona come to life with personalized private tours curated by a local guide that puts you and your loved one’s dreams at the center.

Looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city? Venturing beyond the city limits becomes much more accessible with a local guide. They can organize private tours to fascinating nearby destinations that are often missed by conventional tours. When it comes to understanding Catalonia’s one-of-a-kind culture and society, a local guide is the way to go. Whether you’re learning the stories behind this region’s festivals like ‘The Dancing Egg’, or ‘Correfoc’, or you want to spend the day speaking Catalan with the locals on a street food adventure, a local guide can create private tours that highlight the unique cultures of the Barcelona region.
