The Gothic quarter, also called "ciutat vella", the old town in Catalan, is the historic center of Barcelona. Its history starts in 15 A.C. when the Romans decided to build a fortified city, called Barcino. Since then its fortified walls have protected the seats of political and religious power as well as the homes of wealthy traders who could afford this luxury.
The Gothic quarter is the location of many of Barcelona's historic and emblematic monuments, which you will discover.

Meeting Point
In the ramblas in front of the Teatro del liceo
Teatro del liceo - Ramblas
Starting point of the tour. Your guide will wait for you at the ramblas in front of el Liceo, Barcelona's opera house.
If your hotel is near the tour itinerary we can pick you up at your hotel.
Las Ramblas - La Boqueria market
After a short presentation of the tour and itinerary we will have a look at the ramblas avenue and the oldest market of Barcelona, called La Boquería. More then 200 colorfull stalls.
Plaza del Pi - Santa María del Pi
Entering in the old town, you will discover this beautiful square with a pine and orange trees and Santa Maria del Pi gothic church.
Jewish quarter
Once in the roman walls we will discover the tragic history of the Jewish quarter
Roman walls
We will see the best remains of the walls built by the romans in 32 bc when they decided to settle and build a town called Barcino.
The cathedral
In this area you will discover a lot of historic buildings owned by the ecclesiastical power (the cathedral, the inquisition house, ...)
Real Palace
The impressive palace of the kings of Aragon and Catalunya.
The Born quarter and Santa Maria del Mar church.
In the Middle Ages, numerous craftsmen and merchants guilds, as well as a part of Barcelona's nobility settled in this neighbourhood located near the port.
End
We will end this tour in the rambla del Born. In this neighbourhood you can enjoy a lunch in one of the numerous restaurant terraces. We can suggest some restaurants...

Sagrada Familia tour SKIP THE LINE
The Sagrada Família is a truly exceptional Basilica , the result of the work of genius architect Antoni Gaudí.
