Pottery Village Mashiko (Hamada Shoji's ware) Museum, Cafe and Laughing King of Hell Statue.
Today, Mashiko attracts many artists and entrepreneurs from various areas. Visitors can enjoy charming cafes that serve food in beautiful Mashiko ware, including cups and plates. Our visit included exploring museums, shops, and an indigo dye factory. We also stopped by Saimyoji Temple, where we saw a statue of the laughing King of Hell.

Nasu Heisei-no-mori Forest walk and Nasu Highland
We go to Nasu by motorway and stop at Sesshoseki (Killing stone) and then to Nasu Heisei-no-mori Forest. We walk there around a couple of hours and have lunch. There is no restaurant in that area so that you should buy your lunch at one of the covenience stores on the way to Nasu. After lunch if the weather permits we go to the ninth station of Chausudake mountain by ropeway. We enjoy spectacular scenery from there. Then dropping off at the visitor center to learn about Nasu. We pass through Nasu Imperial villa and we will drop by some souvenir shops if you like.

“Custom tour with Jack”
We arranged a custom tour with Jack to make the most of our short time in Nikko, including him collecting us from the station, us leaving our baggage in his car during the tour so that we didn't lose time having to go to the hotel first, and him dropping us at our hotel afterwards. This all worked perfectly and Jack took us round everything we wanted to see at just the right pace, and was always the perfect host. Thanks Jack !

Hello Mike and Maria, How was your stay at the most luxurious hotel in Nikko? It was really crowded everywhere, particularly the road from the station to the Shinkyo Bridge. Thank you for being so cooperative walking with me. I enjoyed spending time with you. Thank you. Kind regards, Jack

“A full day itinerary ”
Jack was detailed and provided us with lots of fun facts of the places we visit. Nothing was set in stone and the plan changes according to our speed, break time, and weather. Jack tried to take us to Kegon Falls twice since the first time we went it was too foggy to see anything, so we came back in the afternoon to try to catch it, but sadly it got even foggier! Definitely would recommend Jack's tour to anyone that wanted a guided tour of Oku Nikko and Nikko Toshogu.
