“The highlight of our Japan trip”
Pancho’s thoughtful and deeply insightful tour of Hiroshima truly left a lasting impression on the whole family (parents and two children, aged 18 and 15). The tour was engaging, moving, and wonderfully varied throughout. We especially appreciated hearing about Pancho’s own family history and how they survived the atomic bombing, which made the experience even more personal and meaningful. He answered all of our questions and adapted the tour perfectly to our interests and pace. One particularly memorable moment was folding paper cranes together and placing them at the Children’s Peace Monument. We also enjoyed sharing lunch and having further interesting conversations. Pancho’s English is excellent, and his warmth and knowledge made this a truly special experience. We highly recommend this tour with Pancho.

Hi Corinne, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and heartfelt review. It really means a lot to me. I'm so happy to hear that the tour became a highlight of your family's visit to Japan. Folding paper cranes together at the Children's Peace Monument and sharing my family's story with you were truly special moments for me as well. These are the experiences that stay with me long after the tour ends. I'm really glad you enjoyed lunch together! That's one of my favorite Japanese foods and Hiroshima's comfort food, so it makes me so happy that you liked it. Our conversations during the tour were just as enjoyable for me - it was a wonderful opportunity to learn about each other's countries and cultures. Thank you for your kind words about my English and for recommending my tour. Spending the day with your family - seeing how your children engaged with the history and asked such thoughtful questions - reminded me why I love doing this work. I hope Hiroshima will always hold a special place in your family's memories. Thank you again! Pancho

“A deeply human story of Hiroshima — quietly reminding us of who we are, and who we may choose to become.”
Memorable tour. His experience as the son of a survivor gave everything a deeply personal dimension. It wasn’t just history, it was something lived, something felt. Through him, we didn’t only learn about Hiroshima, but also about Japanese culture, resilience, and the quiet strength with which memories are preserved at a family level. What touched us most is how such a profound human tragedy is not only remembered, but transformed into a meaningful message, present every day — one that speaks about peace, responsibility, and the importance of learning from our past. Beyond everything, it is a reminder of our shared humanity of what we are capable of, both in loss and in compassion, and of why it matters to carry these stories forward.

Dear Kata, I don't even know how to properly thank you for these words. This review means more to me than I can express. You understood exactly what I hoped to share - not just the history, but the human story behind it. My grandparent's experience, our family's journey, and Hiroshima's transformation into a city of peace... these are deeply personal, and I'm honored you felt that connection. What you wrote about 'shared humanity' and 'who we may choose to become' - that's the heart of why I do this work. And I'm equally glad we could also enjoy the everyday joys of Hiroshima together - the okonomiyaki, the local flavors, the simple pleasures that make this city alive today. To me, that's also part of the story: Hiroshima is not only about remembering the past, but about celebrating life and moving forward with hope. Thank you for your openness, your compassion, and for taking the time to write something so thoughtful. This is a review I'll treasure. I hope Hiroshima stays with you, as you've clearly stayed with its story. Thank you again, Pancho

“Beautiful Miyajima Island Tour”
Pancho took us to see the sacred island of Miyajima. The boat ride lasted 45 minutes after which Pancho showed us his favorite places on the island. His detailed commentary gave us lots of information about the history of the island and the many shrines built there. Before we left, we had a chance to make Momiji Manju, a maple-leaf-shaped confection at a local bakery. At the end of the day, we were grateful that Pancho agreed to have another meal with us. Pancho is easy to talk to and speaks English well. We highly recommend Pancho for your guide in Hiroshima.

Naomi K.
Hello, I’m Naomi, a guide, a rice farmer and a mom of three. I live in the peaceful countryside of Hiroshima. Our family resides in a 200-year-old traditional farmhouse, surrounded by nature and history. I began learning English again at the age of 40, and although I don’t have much overseas experience, guiding visitors has become one of my greatest joys. Sharing Japan through my own eyes makes every encounter exciting and meaningful. I love welcoming people and building connections across cultures. If my hospitality can add a special touch to your journey in Japan, it would bring me great happiness. I look forward to meeting you—thank you!

Miyu F.
My name is Miyu. I have been a Nationally Licensed Guide Interpreter since 2009. I began my career as a tourist guide last year after working as a public servant for nearly four decades. I worked in the Atomic Bomb Survivors Support Division for 12 years until I retired from the local government, and I continue to interact with Hibakusha. Therefore, I have a lot of knowledge about A-bomb survivors, the reconstruction of Hiroshima, and the effects of radiation on the human body, which I can correctly convey to inbound visitors. I have experience in tea ceremonies and calligraphy and am especially good at guiding visitors through tea ceremony experiences. I love to watch baseball games, so I enjoy talking about them with guests from countries where they are popular. I am a volunteer medical interpreter and can respond to visitors' sudden health problems.
