Visit Wadi Hitan

We will start our tour to Wadi Hitan Protected Area (Valley of the Whales), about 90 km far from Fayoum. Wadi Hitan or Valley of the Whales is located in the Protected Area of Wadi Al Ryan and it was designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in recognition of the 40 million year–old whale skeletons found there. The site reveals evidence for the explanation of one of the greatest mysteries of the evolution of whales: the emergence of the whale as an ocean-going mammal from a previous life as a land-based animal.

Mudawara Mountain

On the way to Wadi Al Ryan Waterfalls, visit Mudawara Mountain, located only a couple of hundred meters to the south of Wadi Al Ryan Road, just after it passes to the north of Al Fayyum Lake.

Wadi Al Ryan Waterfalls

Wadi Al Ryan is a natural depression located in the western desert, Wadi Ryan consists of two lakes connected by Egypt’s only waterfalls, formed in 1970 by an overflow of drainage water from the farmlands in Fayyum. The reserve is composed of a 50.90 km2 upper lake and a 62.00 km2 lower lake, with waterfalls between the two. Among the springs, there are three sulphur springs at the southern side of the lower lake, with extensive mobile sand dunes. Wadi Al Ryan Waterfalls are considered to be the largest waterfalls in Egypt.

Visit Medinet Madi

After that enjoy Medinet Madi (Ancient City Uncovered) which dates back to the third pharaonic dynasty (1855–1799 BC) and was founded during the reigns of Amenemhat III and Amenemhat IV.
