Day 2: Immerse yourself in Old Cairo's historical sites, visit the Citadel with the stunning Muhammad Ali Mosque, and explore the vibrant Khan El-Khalili Market.

Relegious Complex - Old Cairo

Begin your day in the heart of the Coptic Christian quarter, where the narrow alleys and historic churches transport you through time. One of the first stops is the renowned Hanging Church, a testament to the enduring spirit of Christianity in Egypt. Admire the intricate woodwork and ancient icons within, each carrying centuries of spiritual significance. This sacred sanctuary has stood for centuries, witnessing the passage of time and preserving the traditions of Coptic Christianity.

As your journey through Old Cairo continues, you'll have the opportunity to explore the Crypt of the Holy Family. This crypt, nestled deep within the heart of the city, is believed to be a refuge for the Holy Family during their time in Egypt, making it a place of profound importance for Christians around the world.

Your spiritual pilgrimage in Old Cairo also includes visits to the Sergius and Bacchus Church, a testament to Egypt's early Christian history, and St. George Church, another gem adorned with history and art.

Old Cairo's spiritual diversity is further showcased as you visit the Amr Bin Al'As Mosque. A true architectural gem, this mosque stands as a symbol of Cairo's rich tapestry of faith, where Islamic traditions have thrived for centuries alongside their Christian counterparts.

Our tour then ascends to the imposing Citadel of Salah El-Din, an iconic fortress that has guarded Cairo for centuries. From its lofty vantage point, take in panoramic views of the sprawling city below. Explore the awe-inspiring Mosque of Muhammad Ali, an architectural masterpiece often referred to as the "Alabaster Mosque," and discover the history of the Mamluks and Ottomans that shaped this magnificent citadel.

To complete our journey, we'll dive into the sensory wonderland of Khan el-Khalili, Cairo's most famous market. Lose yourself in a labyrinth of narrow alleys brimming with stalls selling everything from vibrant textiles and intricate jewelry to aromatic spices and exotic souvenirs. Bargain with local vendors, savor traditional Egyptian street food, and soak in the lively atmosphere where centuries of trade and culture converge.

Day 3: Alexandria - A Day Trip to Ancient Coastal Wonders

On your third day, prepare to venture beyond the bustling streets of Cairo as you embark on an exciting day trip to the coastal city of Alexandria. This journey promises to unveil an array of historic landmarks that reveal the grandeur of Egypt's ancient past and its enduring charm.

As the sun rises over Cairo, you'll set out on a picturesque drive to Alexandria, passing through the fertile Nile Delta, a lush landscape that forms a striking contrast to the desert scenery you've explored in the days prior.

Your first stop is the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a labyrinthine underground necropolis that fuses Egyptian, Greek, and Roman architectural influences. Descend into this subterranean marvel, where you'll encounter intricate carvings, statues, and frescoes that tell the story of this remarkable fusion of cultures.

Next, visit Pompey's Pillar, a towering monolith that stands as a testament to ancient engineering. This colossal column, carved from a single piece of red Aswan granite, was erected in honor of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, not the historical figure Pompey.

Lastly, your journey brings you to the Citadel of Qaitbay, situated near the Mediterranean shoreline. This architectural gem was constructed in the 15th century on the site of the ancient Pharos Lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

As the day nears its end, you'll retrace your steps to Cairo, reflecting on the wealth of history, culture, and coastal beauty you've experienced. This day trip to Alexandria is a captivating blend of ancient marvels and modern-day wonder, adding yet another layer to your Egyptian odyssey.

A great trip to Cairo

We did a great 2 day tour with Kerolos and his brother Tony. Kerolos was a very good communicator. He had some good suggestions for the trip, keeping in mind also how long it takes to get from one site to another. We visited the pyramids and the sphinx and on day 2, we visited old cairo, some shops and the museum of culture. Kerolos not only made sure we could visit these sites comfortably and safely, he also told many interesting facts about them. We also loved the many photo opportunities :) Traveling in Cairo without a guide would have been much more challenging as it's a very busy city. Traffic is crazy and normally shopkeepers can be very obtrusive. Kerolos made this experience very pleasant. He arranged a very good driver and kept everybody at bay. A special shoutout to both Tony (the kids loved the conversations with him) and the driver, who got us comfortably through crazy traffic. Thanks Kerolos, for a wonderful experience!

Erwin V.

Thank you so much, Erwin, for taking the time to share your experience and feedback about your recent tours in Egypt! It was a pleasure to have had the opportunity to show you the beauty and history of Egypt. I'm glad that I was able to share my knowledge and passion for the country with you, and I'm even more pleased to hear that you had a great time. Your kind words mean a lot to me, and I'm grateful for the chance to have met you. If you're ever back in Egypt, I would love to welcome you again and show you even more of what this amazing country has to offer.

A day at Giza & Saqqara

A very relaxed tour giving us plenty of time at all the important venues. Great photo opportunities which will last a lifetime. Good advice given by Kerolos who provided us with guidance throughout the day. Knowledgeable and helpful, at all times. My young sons enjoyed the experience and I would certainly recommend Kerolos to anyone visiting Cairo for the first time ( like us )! Do not underestimate the importance of having a local to negotiate all entrance fees and pitfalls that will certainly come your way if you plan an excursion on your own. My advice to Kerolos,…… find a driver that is trustworthy! In a world where tourists rely on honesty and integrity your driver let you down today!

Tony J.
