We will explore the 5 oldest temples of Guadalajara. I will explain their architecture and history. And the renovations that many of these temples have undergone due to earthquakes and fires. And the role that they played in Guadalajara´s history.
I will pick you up at your hotel/Airbnb
Construction of this temple began in 1587 and originally was part of a convent of the Augustinian Order.
This temple was part of the Franciscan monastery that was established practically simultaneously with the founding of the city. construction began in 1580.
the first Cathedral of Guadalajara was not in the place of the one that exists today; It was three blocks to the east, on the site where the Temple of Santa María de Gracia is located today. That church, which dated back to the time the city was founded, was a simple construction with adobe walls and a thatched roof. As expected, such a fragile construction did not last long (it is said that it burned down as a result of the celebration of a mass) and finally in 1561, by royal decree, the construction of a new building was authorized on the current site, from which it's laying the foundation stone on July 31 of the same year,
Construction began about 1550 and was built by the indigenous Cocas and Tecuexes of the Analco neighborhood. The construction was overseen and directed by Franciscan friars.
Construction began in 1543 and throughout the years has gone through many renovations and modulations.
