Jacqueline F.
Hello my name is Jacqueline but some call me Jackie. I’m a native of the San Francisco Bay Area from a Mexican-Spanish household. I grew up bilingual and would visit family in Mexico City once or twice a year since childhood. After high school I came to stay for a year and never left! My Mexican culture is very dear to me and I’ve always been in love with the cultural wealth that my Motherland offers me. Though I’ve worked in several different areas of interest such as performing arts, yoga, ESL, interpretation and translation, I decided to certify as a tour guide with the Ministry of Tourism in Mexico and have been giving tours since 2014. I specialize in Mexican Muralism and Religious Tourism.

Mexico Tour Reviews

“A Spectacular & Knowledgeable Tour”
Wendy & Pablo were fantastic guides as we made our debut journey through Mexico and we will intentionally seek them the next time we are here. Wendy’s deep knowledge of the land as well as local lore provided an enriching time as we visited ofrendas, artisan markets and other historical sites. Pablo was a safe and efficient driver who seemed to materialize whenever we needed a car. They are a wonderful team and made us both feel comfortable and welcomed. My wife and I are both disabled, and we were so carefully accommodated, which is a noticeably rare amenity. We deeply value the importance of cultural respect and not imposing our own country’s biases and expectations upon the peoples of other countries and Wendy & Pablo ensured that all of our visits to sites were equal parts honorable and transformative. What a blessing! 10/10

“CDMX City Center”
Everything was great. Roberto gave a very detailed history of Mexico and Mexico City through the eyes of several famous muralists. We also saw important cultural/historical centers like the cathedral and the Aztec temple. We never felt rushed and he gave us plenty of time to ask questions and learn. Great experience!

“Best Guide EVER!!!”
My girlfriend and I recently went on a trip to Mexico City for our anniversary, and one of the most suggested activities we were recommended was a trip to Teotihuacan. We decided it would be best to do a private tour so we weren’t just cattle on a bus like many of the groups we saw. After some research, I came across Rafael’s information and decided to book with him. BEST. DECISION. EVER. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history, he was the kindest and most engaging tour guide I’ve ever had. Our tour always a few hours long, and he showed us things that most people seem to skip when visiting the “Sacred Mountains.” Our tour was several hours long, was incredibly safe, beautifully thorough, and at the end we had a delicious and authentic meal that wrapped it all up. I wish we could have had him as a guide for every one of the wonderful things we did while in Mexico. 10/10 stars from me and my girlfriend (honestly it’s more like 20/10 stars) Rafael is the best. If you are doing a trip, I hope you are fortunate enough to experience it with Rafael. Look no further than him. Our visit to Teotihuacan was the best part of the whole trip and that is in no small part to Rafael. Not only did my girlfriend make unforgettable memories on this vacation, but I truly believe that I made a friend for life. THANK YOU AGAIN RAFAEL!

Dear Richard; I can not thank you and Georgia enough for your so very kind words in the review. I'm speechless... I can only say that absolutely you've got a friend in Mexico that is here for you whenever you may come back. And definetly when we go to New Orleans (and we will) we'll be in touch with you to share experiences there. Thanks so much again... I'm really touched by your message... Take good care my friend!

Mexico Frequently Asked Questions
What do you need to know before going to Mexico?
Here are some quick tips and tricks to keep in mind;
All About Agua: Don’t drink tap water. We can’t say this enough. It would be terrible if your dream vacation were to be cut short by some stomach bug (a.k.a Montezuma’s revenge) contracted from unpurified water. Also, unless you’re in Cancun or certain parts of Mexico City, stay away from the ice just to be safe.
Toilet Trivia: It sounds unfamiliar, but in Mexico, you should never flush toilet paper. Plenty of signs will remind you along the way, but it’s good to prepare yourself before you land. There is usually a bin next to the toilet for tissue disposal.
Travel Overload: Don’t try to explore the entire country in one trip. It’s a recipe for stress and rushed touring. Instead, break your Mexico trip into bite-size pieces. Enjoying Cancun, Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Oaxaca on their own creates a more detailed, intimate experience.
Peso Power: Converting dollars to pesos while interacting with a service person eats up valuable sightseeing time. To avoid calculations and the elusive hunt for change, convert your dollars into pesos at an official ATM (preferably within a reputable financial institution). You can also do this at the airport.

What should you expect when you go through customs in Mexico?
Customs in Mexico are similar to other international customs processes. A typical customs process looks like this;
Airport: Fill out the FMM form online as physical copies are no longer given out by commercial airlines. You will also fill out a customs form. Be sure to disclose anything on the Mexico customs disclosure list. Once you fill out your customs form, you’ll go through immigration and present the documentation asked for. Once immigration is over, and your passport is stamped, pick up your bags and you’re good to go.
Border (U.S./Mexico): Present your passport to border inspection, and have your FMM filled out online beforehand. Disclose any items of interest within your vehicle and comply with border agent questions about duration of stay and so on, with hotel accommodation bookings on hand, just in case. Most importantly, be sure you have proof of valid car registration (if you’re driving in).

How do I prepare my stomach for Mexico?
Mexico’s culinary heritage is a gift your taste buds can’t receive if you’re unsure about food safety. When traveling through the country, here's how you can stay food safe;
Starting with small portions. It’s tempting to go all in with Mexico’s street food, but if you're new to the country, give your stomach a day to adjust to the new flavors and textures. Small samples and portions will work best.
Drinking bottled, boiled, or purified water. Mexico’s tap water is NOT safe to drink as even locals rarely drink it. In Mexico City, avoid the ice as well. Juices and Agua fresca are okay, as vendors use purified water.
Bringing medication. Before traveling, talk to your doctor about recommended tablets or syrups to help prevent Montezuma’s revenge.
Avoid peeled fruits, usually sold by street vendors (in bags, small bowls, or sticks). Unpeeled fruits like mangoes, apples, melons, and oranges are fine.
