Lisbon Cathedral

A brief stop at Lisbon Cathedral (the Sé) and Saint Anyhonyy´s Church at the heart of Lisbon located at Alfama neighberhood.

Lisbon Cathedral is the oldest church and one of the most important in the city, begun in 1147 right after the reconquest of Lisbon from the Moors and built on what was once an old mosque, and before that, possibly a Roman Christian temple.

The Church of Saint Anthony is a Catholic temple dedicated to Saint Anthony of Lisbon (also known worldwide as Saint Anthony of Padua). It is built on the site where it is believed he was born in 1195.

Graça

Continuing our journey, we head to the historic Graça neighborhood, built in the 18th century.

Along the way, we will pass by other points of interest until we reach the next mandatory stop… the Our Lady of Grace Viewpoint (Miradouro da Nossa Senhora da Graça).

Mercado da Ribeira or Time Out Market

We leave the viewpoint and head back toward Alfama, passing by the Monastery of São Vicente de Fora, the famous Feira da Ladra flea market, and our National Pantheon, crossing Fado-filled Alfama through its beautiful narrow streets until we reach Lisbon’s “riverside” area. We then continue along the Tagus River, passing through Praça do Comércio in the direction of Mercado da Ribeira. Mercado da Ribeira is a traditional Lisbon market dating back to the 19th century. Nowadays it combines two experiences:

A traditional market of fresh products (fish, fruit, vegetables), especially lively in the morning.

A modern and vibrant food hall (Time Out Market), with many restaurants, bars, and gourmet shops selected to represent the best of Portuguese and international cuisine, all under the same roof.

Belém

Leaving Mercado da Ribeira, we continue our tour along the river towards Belém, passing through old maritime trade warehouses, the Alcantara neighborhood and the 25 de Abril bridge until we reach Belém.

Belém is one of the most emblematic places in Lisbon, known for its central role in the Age of Portuguese Discoveries and for the concentration of important monuments and museums along the Tagus River.

In Belém, we will walk a little near the Jerónimos Monastery and the Santa Maria de Belém Church where Vasco da Gama, the famous Portuguese navigator and Luiz Vaz de Camões, considered the best writer of the 16th century and poet of all time, are buried.

We then continued next to the famous Belem Tower and later stopped next to the Monument of the Portuguese Discoveries.

Estrela Basilica

Returning to the center, we make a brief 10-minute stop at the emblematic Basílica da Estrela.

The Estrela Basilica (officially the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) is one of the most impressive and emblematic churches in Lisbon, dating back to the 18th century and well known for its white dome and monumental facade.

Bairro Alto

Leaving the Basilica da Estrela behind, we will then discover the most bohemian neighborhood in Lisbon, Bairro Alto.

Built in the 18th century for the people, Bairro Alto is one of the most charismatic and emblematic neighborhoods in Lisbon: narrow, cobbled streets, old houses with colorful facades, unique shops and an atmosphere that changes a lot between day and night.

Parque Eduardo VII

Let's then go to our last stop, Parque Eduardo VII is one of the largest and most beautiful urban parks in the center of Lisbon, offering a green oasis with panoramic views over the city and the Tagus River.

Ending Point

At the end of our tour, I drive you to any point in Lisbon city center or at your accommodation.
