The arrival of the Bourbon dynasty from France to Spain in the 18th century represented an urban transformation in Madrid, inspired by the trends of classicism and Enlightenment, in contrast to the more sober style of the House of Austria. That meant an implementation of urban planning projects to improve the city's appearance. In this tour we will scroll through some of the main city landmarks, which represent this growth, contributing to its skyline and anticipating the design of modernism.

Discover the footprint of the Bourbons with this fantastic private guided tour through the center of Madrid.
We will start the route from the heart of the city in the Puerta del Sol square, the meeting point for most people in Madrid.
We’ll head down to the Congress of Deputies, exploring the most iconic buildings of Madrid. Then the Fountain of Neptune and the Paseo del Prado, conceived as a garden walk that would house buildings dedicated to science and art, where the well known Prado Museum stands. We’ll arrive at the green oasis in the center of Madrid: the Retiro Park. We’ll continue along Alcalá Street, imposingly guarded by the famous Puerta de Alcalá, one of the five ancient royal gates that gave access to the city.
While I'll tell you the interesting history of the metro of Madrid, we’ll pass by the famous Bank of Spain building, the must-see Cibeles Fountain and the Palacio de Cibeles, currently the City Hall, undoubtedly one of the most photographed spots in Madrid.
Later we’ll reach the iconic Metropolis building, and the cosmopolitan Gran Vía avenue by the baroque church of San José.
Last part of our tour will be by Callao Square, full of cinemas and musical theaters, and down Preciados street heading back to Puerta del Sol Square.
