Old Madrid Walking Tour

The city grows mainly after King Philip II settled in Madrid with his court in 1561. This is the reason why most of the Old City is called the Habsburg or Austrian district.

Royal Palace of Madrid (outside)

Old City - Plaza de la Villa
The plaza de la Villa is an urban square in central Madrid. The square, bordering the Calle Mayor, houses some of the oldest buildings still around in the city.

It has a very interesting architectural design and you can find many shops and cafés surround it.
Plaza Santa Ana
The name derives from a monastery with the name Santa Ana that occupied the current location in the seventeenth century.
