Reina Sofia Museum is undoubtedly one of the must-see in Madrid: one of the world's largest museums for modern and contemporary art. Highlights of the museum include superb collections of Spain's three great 20th-century artists: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró.

Officially inaugurated in 1992, named for Queen Sofía, in a former hospital building with vaulted hallways and gardens, the museum is formed by the old Sabatini building and the modern Nouvel building.

The Museum's permanent collection contains works from the 1900s to the present day, displayed through traditional genres side by side with photography, film, sound and dance. Its exhibition covers the movements of the 20th century, from abstract art, dadaism, cubism, surrealism and modernism, showing the development of one of the most outstanding artists of all time: Pablo Picasso. From "Woman in blue" to "Guernica", whose vision is probably something that everybody should experience at least once, regarded by many as one of the most powerful anti-war works of art in history. We will see the Guernica rough sketches and compare them to the final work, exhibited in the museum, while learning about the Spanish Civil War which ended up in the General Franco’s regime.

We’ll discover the surrealist movement by admiring Dalí's unique style paintings since his beginnings.

We'll stroll around the museum to marvel at the artworks by Joan Miro -defined by his bright primary colors- René Magritte, Óscar Domínguez, Georges Braque, Robert Delaunay and many others in an unforgettable tour.
