Taka's Tokyo Hipster Winery Tour
You might think, “Winery in Tokyo?” But the history of winemaking in Japan started in the 19th century. High-quality wines are produced in Japan and some labels have won the gold medal at an international wine competition in France. Let me introduce you a wine tour in Tokyo. The wineries are small. There are no vineyards. But it can be enjoyed as a half day fun trip inside Tokyo.

“Best Choice”
It’s taken me awhile to recover from our whirlwind trip to Japan and the jetlag. I am just now to taking the time to thank Taka for being so kind and thoughtful as he put together the private tour four our first day in Tokyo. I highly recommend Taka! Don’t hesitate. I have no doubt the care he put into our tour he will do for all of his guest. He was also so very personable, kind and easy from the start. Our day with him was 100% the highlight of my thirteen year old son’s trip. A trip he will never forget. I mentioned to Taka from the start Tokyo was for my son, he wanted to shop, eat, see Akihabara, I wanted him to have some history, see cherry blossoms and Kappabashi St to buy knives another time. Taka accomplished all that and more! Once he found out my son played soccer, he altered his plan to surprise him with a soccer stop, so thoughtful. He was also very patient with him as he perused the shops on Takeshita St. at the end of our day and delighted in my son’s excitement. Less I forget, he also found the perfect spot for my son’s first sushi experience, another moment he will never forget. I was beyond thrilled to hit so many spots, and to come away with an understanding of the transit system and with plans for our next two days in Tokyo. To tour with Taka and on our first day was the best decision ever! I know I also saved hours of searching for knives on Kappabashi St, thanks to his recommendation. As well of hours of planning our next two days. My son and I will treasure our time in Japan always, Thank you Taka for a wonderful first day in Tokyo! Also, thanks for your knife shop recommendation! We all are thrilled with our knives and will cherish them for years to come. Bonus, they have a shop in NYC so my stepson and son can get their knives engraved for free at a later date. Arigotō! Tour with Taka you too will be so happy your choice!

Dear Jo-Lynn and Asher, Thank you for writing such a lovely review. Making our customers smile is my job, so I’m very happy to hear that your son enjoyed it as well. I was a bit worried since it rained the next day, but it sounds like the two of you managed to enjoy shopping together. I look forward to welcoming you back to Japan again!

Thank you for the wonderful review, Debby! I’m glad you enjoyed the tour. The cherry blossoms were gorgeous under the blue sky — I’m glad we got to see them together. Hope the rest of your travels are just as lovely :)

“Authentic Japan ”
When I decided to come to Japan I didn't want to simply do all the usual activities tourists did. I'd already been to Japan 3 times to play Judo. I wanted to experience Japan the way the Japanese do. Taka was a rock star! He arrived at the hotel and straight away we were brothers, it was raining and the hotel kindly loaned me an umbrella, but the rain just made Tokyo more authentic. Taka navigated the subway like a pro. He taught me the history of Tokyo and we visited the social hotspots popular in Japan yet not swamped with tourists. Though we did visit the famous attractions Tokyo had to offer. Including making an offering at the Shinto shrine, which I had never done. I even met a tourist from New Zealand my country We visited coffee shops and ate at a busy Sushi restaurant, where Taka made sure I got value for my money. I will never forget that day it rained in Tokyo! I didn't feel like a tourist I felt like part of Tokyo and that is what I wanted. I got to do some shopping and took lots of photos. It was such a good way to see Tokyo and makes me want to come back for more.

Being a former student and staff member of the University of Tokyo, I have a natural ability to communicate with people from all corners of the world. Regardless of whether you prefer to speak English, French, or Globish with me ! I have practiced Aikido, Iaido (Katana), and Kyudo (Bow) martial arts, and I have also worked on the restoration of Japanese armor. Therefore, I am well-versed in the art of war in ancient Japan. But my passion for history goes further, and during my guided tours, I will share various anecdotes that will bring ancient Japan to life for you ! I'm also a huge fan of old Japanese video games, especially RPGs, so if you want a true otaku experience, follow me to Nakano Broadway and Akihabara! If you're interested in arranging a tour that's tailored to your preferences, feel free to send me a message !

Koichiro Y.
Hello! I’m Koichiro. Please call me “Yamasan”. It derives from my family name and my friends call me so. I worked for a machinery company as a project manager and engineer for mechanical and electrical construction projects both domestic and overseas for over 35 years. I recall my first overseas project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when I was 26, and the second was in Singapore. I visited many countries for surveys, meetings, commissioning, project handing over, and so on. In 2014 at the age of 60, I decided to retire from the company and live the expected further 30 years of life with a new career and experiences. I, then, studied translation and guide interpretation. I passed the national examination for licensed guides (English) in 2015 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2016. Until now, I have been guiding many beautiful guests mainly to popular sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Omote-Sando, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree, and also cultural experiences of Origami making, Furoshiki wrapping, and Sushi cooking. I am happy that I can freely arrange a customized tour together with you, or can propose my tours to you. I want to show you some parts of daily Tokyo life and introduce you to Bunkyo City which is located in the heart of Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live a happy life now. Now, we can tour around the world but have not yet overcome COVID-19 completely. Recently, the number of passengers wearing masks on public transportation in Tokyo reduced to some 25% but we should mind about it still. Please carry your mask to wear it where or when necessary (December 2024, Yamasan).

Shin N.
Welcome to Japan! I'm Shin. I have been an English Guide in Japan more than10 years. I can guide Tokyo, Kanagawa and almost all metropolitan sightseeing and walking spots. I was born in Kobe, grown up in Osaka, and studied in Kyoto, so not only Tokyo but I also have a good knowledge of Japanese historical cities. I love talking about Japanese food & culture, walking quiet narrow streets, drinking tasty Japanese whisky, Sumo, Rugby & Sports, and Japanese mountains. I climbed Mt. Fuji 18 times with foreign guests. We enjoyed the auspicious moments of sunrising from the summit. I would like to support you to make your stay in Japan memorable and precious one. It is grateful if you refer to my proposed tour schedule, in the case you have your own interests, I am happy to tailor the tour schedule responding your requests. Please feel free to contact me. I look forward to sharing wonderful time in Japan with you. Be my guest!
