The essence of Kamakura - A half-day trip to another world
From Tokyo, only one hour train ride takes you to another world, Kamakura, an ancient capital of samurais.Their spirit of "Zen" still remains anywhere. The passage of time is quite different from the one of megapolis Tokyo. I think three spots express the essence of Kamakura, Great Buddha (Kotoku-in Temple), Bamboo Temple (Hokoku-ji Temple) and First Shogun's Shrine (Tsuru-ga-oka Hachiman Guu).

Promenade--from Tokyo Station to the Imperial Palace
Without any doubt, this is one of the most beautiful promenades in Japan, and also, especially historical road. At first sight, it doesn't look a lot of historical signs concealed. I'll tell you such secrets of this promenade taking a stroll on this road. There's no splendid palace like Versailles, but we can find remains of "Castle" in many places. That's the secret of this road because It's the scene of Japanese revolution, a dramatic and irreversible social change llike French revolution.

Enjoy the labyrinth of Asakusa in Tokyo on a Half-Day
Without any doubt, Asakusa is the most popular destination in Tokyo. Its unchangeable atmosphere, "Good old times", attracts many visitors every day. It was once the heart of Edo (Tokyo's ancient name) City, home to artisans, merchants and entertainers. As well as its oldest temple in Tokyo, Senso-ji and its great red lantern, its small lanes and winding alleyways are full of wonder. It's like a labyrinth. let's explore the labyrinth with me!

“First discovering of Tokyo”
Itsumi is a charming person, driven by a genuine desire to share and promote Tokyo. We expected that she would be able to give us more explanations about how the city of Tokyo works. Unfortunately, her understanding of French leaves something to be desired. We are confident that, with time, this will improve.

Itsumi

“Delightful Meiji Jingu tour”
We had a short and beautiful toru around the Meiji Jingu Shinto Shrine. Itsumi was very kind and told us about the history of the place. We also attended a ritual and Itsumi helped us with the language barrier. I would have liked more information about different aspects about Japanese culture besides the information about the place. Still, we enjoyed our time very much and my husband got to practice his japanese.

Thank you, Estefania ! I really enjoyed the tour to be with you. We could see a marriage procession and a new born baby. We're lucky ! May you be blessed with even more luck on your journey. Itsumi

I’m so excited to have a chance to show you around my favorite spots in Kanagawa prefecture. I was born in Kanagawa. I spent my whole school life, including university, here in Kanagawa. I worked as a high school English teacher here for more than 40 years. I love Kanagawa so much. We have many interesting tourist spots, like Hakone, Kamakura, Enoshima and Yokohama. I got my tour guide license in English in 2009. I am still an English teacher. To give an interesting and impressive lesson to young high school students, I’ve learnt and gathered many kinds of information. I also have a license to teach social studies, so I have a wide range of knowledge about Japanese culture and history. I’m sure to provide you an interesting tour.

Grant A.
Hello! My name is Grant, and I’ve spent over a decade living and exploring Japan. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for Japanese language, culture, and history. I hold an N2 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and I graduated from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy. I’ve visited all 47 prefectures and explored a wide range of historical sites, shrines, and castles throughout the country. My background in Japanese history helps me provide context that brings depth and meaning to the places we visit—whether it's understanding a centuries-old temple in Kyoto, the story behind a castle ruin, or uncovering the historical layers of a Tokyo neighborhood. If you’re planning to explore Tokyo, here are some tour options to consider: One day in Tokyo? The Ginza Line Tour offers a great introduction to the city’s highlights. Two days? Pair the East Tokyo Tour and West Tokyo Tour to get a well-rounded experience. Interested in anime? The Anime Tour is flexible and can be tailored to match your specific interests. For those looking to go beyond the city, I also offer day trips to Nikko, Kamakura, and other nearby destinations. While most guests book Tokyo-based tours, I also guide in other regions—especially Kyoto, where I’ve visited every World Heritage Site. I regularly lead tours in Osaka, Nara, Nagoya, Hikone, and other locations easily reached by rail. Multi-day and custom tours are available on request. Full-Day Tour: 40,000 yen (8 hours) Full-Day Tour Outside of Tokyo: 40,000 yen + transportation Feel free to get in touch to plan a tour that fits your interests and travel plans.
