Half Day Lisbon Highlights and History Private Tour
One of the best ways to get to know a city is bay wondering though its streets, tastings its delicacies, feelings its traditions and absorbing its uniqueness’s. In around 4 hours, get to experience all of this with a local that just loves to share with all this beautiful city.

We start our tour at Praça do Comércio, the gate of entrance into the city and a square full of symbols to discover.
Baixa Pombalina
Baixa is the downtown area of the city, built in the 18th century after the 1755 earthquake. Crossing Baixa, we will explore its plan and architectural features.
Chiado
Chiado became the trendy part of the city in the 19th century. It was where the French style shops could be found. We will walk up Rua do Carmo and Rua Garret, tow of the main arteries of Chiado, stopping in front of some of its historic and famous shops, such as Luvaria Ulisses, Bertrand and Brasileira.
Bairro Alto
Section of the city built in the 16th century. It is one of the traditional neighbourhoods of the city. It was known for its bohemian lifestyle, for it was where journalists could be seen at night for some of the most important newspapers were seeded here, since the 18th century. Now a days it is where one of the city’s nightlife takes place.
Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara (viewpoint)
This will be our first viewpoint of the tour, looking over the city. It is a good place to understand how it grew through centuries.
São Roque Church
As we star to leave the Chiado Hill, a visit to this church is mandatory, for it is a very nice example of a church that survived the 1755 earthquake.
Largo do Carmo
Na important stop to talk about our more contemporary history, for it was the stage for one of the crucial moments that dictated the end of the dictatorial regime in 1974.
From here we can also see the ruins of a church that was destroyed on the 1755 earthquake.
Restauradores
A big part of getting to know a city is done by tasting its delicacies. In Lisbon, its famous pastry is Pastel de Nata.
Rua das Portas de Santo Antão
Walking down one of the oldest streets of the city, feeling its life and stopping for a ginginha (a cherry liquor).
Largo & Igreja de São Domingos
Here we will talk about one of the darkest moments of our history and visit a very unique church.
Praça Figueira - 12 tram
To help us go up the Castle Hill, we will cache one the famous traditional Lisbon trams. A unique ride up the hill.
Portas do Sol
The second viewpoint of the tour, looking over Alfama and the Tagus River.
Alfama
We will walk though one of the oldest, unique, traditional sections of the city. Alfama feels like a maze, so a nice to get lost in its narrow streets all the way to the river side.
Praça dp Comércio (the end)
The tour ends where it started at Praça do Comércio.

“A Perfect day in Lisbon with Rita”
We had a wonderful day in Lisbon with Rita. The meeting point in Praca de commerce was very easy to find. We were a family of 3 with a six years old daughter that does not speak English, and Rita was well aware of it and try to take this in to account during our tour. We were very much intrigued by the content as well as places that Rita has unveiled, but the highlight of the tour were the anecdotes that she shared with us about day to day life in Lisbon, Portuguese society and personal story about herself and her family. It was so personal and wonderful. We definitely recommend this tour. Rita, thank you for a wonderful experience!
